We spent some good time at the Transition Home with her this morning. We got to see her crib and her nannies. She's especially fond of Tuti. She gave her a long hug. When it was time to go, many of the other kids gathered to wave good bye to us. Some of them were crying.
(by the way, before I go on, we found out yesterday that her official name is Shurbe - like shure-bay - and that's what many people call her there. so that's what we've been calling her. however, people there pronounced it different ways, so we're not sure what we'll do.)
Shurbe had been fun and giggly all afternoon, but she got very quiet on the bus, as were most of the kids. She sat on Beth's lap and put one hand on my shoulder for most of the ride. She didn't make a peep. She just looked out the window and we could tell she was a little nervous, and that she was thinking. When we got to the Guest House we took her up to our room. She sat on our bed with us, and then laid down. I tried to read a book to her but she lost interest. She rolled over, her face really close to Beth's, and just stayed there for quite a while. And then the sniffles started. It soon turned into a cry. Beth & Shurbe laid there crying together for quite a while. But the crying turned into sobbing - an all out heart-broken wailing. I've never heard anything like it, but it's as if she was mourning her biological family and Transition Home family all together. Beth & I had read enough to know that we needed to let her do this. We comforted her, but didn't shhh her. Finally, a drink of water helped calm her down after almost an hour. Wow. She's doing well right now. We played and she also tried on several outfits. She likes outfits (Ray Ray). We are getting ready for dinner. It could be an interesting night. Love you all.
