Chris, who went as a high school student on our missions trip to Chicago last year, is quick on his feet. Really quick. We've played a little game where he gives me a word or phrase just before I go up to preach or teach. I have to work that word into my sermon somehow. It's a fun game, so when the tables were turned, Chris had his chance to shine.
He was teaching a Bible lesson to a group of students from FCC in Chicago (where my good friend Steve is the minister). And I gave him the name "King Louie of Trinidad." Chris was able to work this fictitious name into his talk on greed. It went something like this,
Greed is a dangerous thing. King Louie of Trinidad was a very greedy and impatient king, and we all know what happened to him."
I thought I was going to die of laughter (but trying not to laugh). What made it better was that most of the people listening didn't even flinch. They were just thinking, "Chris is so smart."
Hayley and I were reliving this hilarious moment this past weekend, so her, John & I devised a plan. You can see our little prank by going to wikipedia & then searching for King Louie. Be sure to read the last paragraph. And don't tattle on us.
