I think one of the hardest situations is trying to figure out how to help someone, when I don't really know the best way to help them. Sometimes meeting the need right in front me (the one they are asking for) doesn't really help the person. It only further entrenches them in bad choices & habits. But sometimes meeting that need does help. Knowing what is best is really tough. Erwin McManus says that genuine gratitude for help recieved is one key component in judging whether your help has been beneficial. Anyone else have some general principles for me on this one?
