the broken orchestra of winnipeg is a winnipeg, manitoba based improvisational and experimental almost jazz ensemble that has been perorming since february of 2005. it was started as an concept for leader christopher friesen's 'unravelled brown cassette tape lying on a freeway' project. inevitably, as all things evolve, 'ubclf' evloved into 'unravelled broken orchestra' and thusly became 'broken orchestra of winnipeg.'

Broken Orchestra - greetings from across the pond. Like the concept. Have you heard of the Porsmouth Synphonia, on of Gavin Bryars' projects, - they were a similar "broken" orchestra, and the entrance criteria was hat you couldnt play the instrument.
