Ahh, the big one. This one was held at a swap meet in San Bernardino during one of the summers I was home from college (look at how thin I am!) By this time I had a few tournament wins under my belt and was ready to take on the famous freestylers of the west. Once again I chose a song that I could dress up for, and although I practiced pretty hard, I didn't do as well as I had hoped for. If you can see, I looked at the screen too much AND I was about to fail midway through (which would have meant automatic disqualification).
But the rush... I had my own cheering section and that really got my blood pumping. The screaming's from my sister's best friend Christina. Jen was there as well and took the train in from LA to see me dance. I got to meet a lot of awesome people and I finished just out of contention with 4th place. I remember them saying, "it was really really hard to pick it." But I was beaten by a pair of synchronized twins. Actually, the winner did a "strip" routine to Long Train Running (the song that I did in the other video).
This and the other video in this set are of me in my prime, when I was considered one of the top freestylers in the Northeast. Looking back at them now, I know I could have done better, and I'm working to get back to where I was if not farther than that.
