Nine year old Nicholas followed in Big Brother's footsteps by taking piano lessons but wouldn't appreciate the compulsion to practice for years to come. Taking up the violin at 12, he joined several orchestras and began absorbing the classical and baroque music he was playing. But he wanted more. He started writing and took up the guitar at the age of 17, quickly picking up chords and applying his years of theory and classical lessons. Continuously writing, he wanted to take his creations out of the home and onto the stage, and started to perform in small local venues.

Performing energetically in several groups, hastily formed duets and solos spots, Nick quickly acquired a local audience. Radio and local press covered the events, but they would be left in the dust for bigger things. After releasing two singles with disappointing sales, despite frequent radio play, he took his act across the Atlantic and began performing his quirky, soul-searching brand of electric pop across Canada.

More bands (who are best left unnamed) and more duets were added to the list of accompanists, but nothing seemed to fit. Record companies would tease with promises of compliation album appearance but never pull though. After the passing of a close friend who had managed his career in the New Country, Nick came to a crossroads. After marrying and settling down in a mouse-pushing career, he left behind the band practices and strained musical relationships to engage in a musical form that molded to his life.

Recording in a home studio and releasing his music online suits his new lifestyle, and allows him to concentrate on being a family man while remaining creatively prolific. Always thinking and always creating, Nick continues to push the boundaries of analog and digital music, blending his classical training with a rock sensibility and experimental flair. Nowhere else will you find a more eclectic soup of disparate influences and styles.

Nick's live performances are rare, yet those who attend are treated to a brief insight into a quietly creative mind. Those performance will soon be available on DVD and online video - releases that any burman fan will not want to miss.

Now listen to the music.
