no one understood the abstract expressionist painters of a post world war two america, yet they were the first american painters taken seriously in the upper class art circles of europe (they put us on the map). people look at pollock's drizzled paint or Rothko's floating color squares, or even still's jagged flashes of color and just didnt understand, they didnt get it. the world had gone to war with each other, had seen horrible things and been submerged inside of hate and destruction. in response to these feelings of violence and sadness, the painters of the new york school began to look inward for their artistic inspiration as an alternative to merely recreating the images that the world couldnt bare to keep. they struggled to capture their emotions and feelings and portray that to the world in a way that each person could experience their art in their own unique way and not just view it, and in some respects this sort of vulnerability confused people, and now today we have americas greatest contribution to the realm of art.
now to the point thanks for sticken with me
there is creativity inside of each of you... find it. struggle with it, grab ahold of it, and show it to us (the world) we are here and we are listening... wanting. no one cares if you cant paint or draw or whatever, thats fine, we want to know who you are on the inside. so show us your heart please. become vulnerable like those brave ones before us and change the world. god gave you a unique and special voice, dont waste that, please.
cheers
chris.
