I started in Unix customer support for a CD recording company and I now work for Hewlett Packard. Over time, I’ve developed a love for the internet and the wealth of information it has to offer. I blog regularly at Bwana.org and I also produce a (somewhat)weekly podcast called Bwana.org Radio. I am a member of the Techpodcast network and the Blubrry network. I started podcasting in July 2005 and have enjoyed every minute of it. I've recently experimented with video and I may convert to it. It is a lot more work however. After watching the detailed video on what the new features are, I was most impressed by the little changes than I was the major ones. Here is a video showing my 3 favorite new features:

  1. Translate feature - I never thought I'd like this feature but the speed and convenience of it makes me want to use it more. One can easily (and I do stress easily) convert your tweets to another language OR translate an existing tweet to your language.
  2. Shorten URL tweak - Often in TweetDeck, I'd forget to click the "Shorten" button after putting a URL in the "Shorten URL" box. TweetDeck added a little fix that will automatically shorten a URL in the box when you post the tweet. Little things :)
  3. #Hashtag tweak - Finally, when you reply to someone who has a hashtag in their tweet, the same hashtag is automatically appended to your reply.

It all boils down to the little things. If only Adobe Air would solve their memory issues, TweetDeck would be a must have for everyone. I like the client so much that I restart it every other hour to compensate. At any rate, good job on a finely tuned minor release!

I think I made a great choice by choosing SmugMug over renewing my Flickr Pro account.  I'm enjoying the features and learning a lot about it.  I'm thinking about possibly integrating it into Bwana.org some, maybe a sidebar widget which shows the latest photos.  I realize there's a bunch of powerful tools I haven't tapped into yet, so the best is yet to come.  On another note, I'm getting better at taking RAW photos, I guess the next step is practice post processing and touch up.

Apparently, anyone can take advantage of a security flaw in Wired.com's website by creating an image of a fake story.  Today's blunder was a fake story about Steve Jobs going into Cardiac arrest.  Seriously Wired, get with the program and fix this.

All you have to do is change the image path and viola, you've posted on Wired for the uninformed.  Sigh.
