"Enigmantic Pop Glam Princess"
Born in Los Angeles, California, Camille has spent most of her life ping ponging the west coast and the last 6-7 years relocated in Europe, primarily Liverpool, England.
In 2000 she worked with Luc Leduc of Below Records to release her debut album Not for the Disco shortly before moving to Liverpool to study sound technology. Two European tours followed with bands of Below Record's fame (200T and the Bad Cassettes), along with gobs of scattered European gigs and a second album "World of Gliding Monsters", produced in the UK and in Norway. Mostly produced by Camille herself, she still insists on owing thanks to Jeron Gundersen of Dibidim who largely collaborated on the album. Playing amongst some of Europe's finest musicians (including Stein Urheim of Steady Steele, Marius Simonsen of Pop Levi and Super Numeri and Pop Levi himself) Camille continued to play through a residency at Ladytron's newly opened club "Korova" while working on a third solo album, this time completely self produced and playing all the instruments (including drums) herself.
Camille's surrounding company has always been of interest to die hard fans, from playing with ex-Jeff Buckley drummer Eric Eidel to working with Brian Eno on some crazy clock project to debuting her residency with her opening players the Zutons! She seems to always be surrounded by influentials while churning out some of the most romantically colourful and quirky tunes, something that has undoubtedly won their hearts. Her voice can be heard on the odd collaboration with bands like Ezra Bang, Pop Levi and according to the grape vine, her favourite video game! She smiles shyly when pressed to answer which one.
You only have to google her name to find a slew of pages (many in languages that I have never seen before with other searches) to see the intense underground effect her music has on the global Indie market. Videos can also be found on youtube.com with hidden Easter eggs popping up everywhere else on other's websites. It's hard to believe that all this could have been born from a one-man- run label like Below Records.
Rumour has it Camille is returning to her roots in Los Angeles to show what she's learned while she's been away playing a hand full of shows on the west coast and finishing off her third album.
