In 1990 the Lord began to put a desire in our hearts to see the emerging generations able to receive the fullness of the revelation the Lord was giving the body of Christ. (Psalm 145:4-6). We began to write books for children about the church, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. We were excited but so conscious of our own need for greater revelation of the truth of Scripture regarding these subjects. We recognized our own barrenness of spirit and so began a journey of hunger for passion for Jesus (Psalm 63).
In 1997, during a series of Revival Meetings in Central London, UK, we first began to realize that the Lord had called us to be a family for the nations (Psalm 108:3). Soon our 7 year old son was called to visit the church in Budapest, because the Lord told him, "they were hungry for God". We also sent our 10 year old daughter to Japan. Lelonnie received confirming prophetic words about being called to carry the children of the nations before the Lord in prayer.
In March 1999, the Lord gave Mike a vision for a group of Christians gathering together for 24/7 prayer, for the generations working together, for Christian businesses linking with prayer and the Great Commission, for a place where Christian artists, authors and musicians could be released into their potential in God, for a resource center for the nations in terms of the printed word, music and art to celebrate Jesus, for a place of refreshing, healing and encounter with God. The Lord also told us to get ready because He could take us anywhere in the world (Psalm 116:16). We lost our business in October of 1999 (Psalm 119:75) and pledged together that from that time on we wanted nothing less than the fullness of what the Lord had for us. We gave ourselves to the Lord to serve Him with all that we had and we committed ourselves to pursue His will with our whole hearts.
In 2001 the Lord gave Lelonnie a vision to see praying children connected all over the world via an interactive website. Over the next 5 years the vision developed as the Lord began to supernaturally connect us with people with a heart and passion for children and prayer in around 50 nations (Psalm 145:4-5). During this time both Mike and Lelonnie received many words regarding the children of the nations and prayer. These words were miracle words to us, in that they exactly confirmed what the Lord had already put into our own hearts. We made a choice to seek to treasure the word of God above all else (Psalm 119). We sold our home in late 2001 after it having been on the market for 2 years. We knew we were to use the proceeds of the sale to pursue the things the Lord had put into our hearts.
In 2002, we traveled to the US and happened to stop in Kansas City for just 24 hours! We had heard of a new-to-us kind of musical prayer meeting that simply went on and on and never stopped and we were curious, but also sincerely looking for the divine connections the Lord had for us. We were completely captivated by what we found in Kansas City, we were deeply touched by the Lord and were overwhelmed by a complete unity of heart with the House of Prayer we found there (Psalm 27 & Psalm 84). We returned in 2002 with our children, and the Lord spoke clearly that it was He who had led us here, He who would move us here and He who would sustain us. So began a 2 1/2 year journey to get back against all odds, with no working visa, no financial backing and no home..
We continued to grow the Generation of Destiny vision and we sought the Lord intensely for confirmation of His will concerning a seemingly impossible move to Kansas City. We prayed and sought His face. We prayed with our children as we had always done. We particularly treasured His words to them.
In June 2004 we came to the US with 1 suitcase each and with a combination of a fearful and a faithful heart. We knew the Lord was good. America was as different from England as Germany is from England. The Lord gave Mike a job and a visa. He gave us a home and then a dear group of people we had never met before filled our home with furniture and food. They even gave us a car.. We jumped into IHOP, and have been jumping in ever since, as the Lord has led us (Isaiah 56:6-7).
So why Kansas City? We hardly knew why when we first arrived except that there was a deep sense this was God (Jeremiah 29:11-13). Now 3 years later we are overwhelmed with gratitude at the blessing, the mercy and the presence of Jesus that we have tasted (Psalm 51:1). We have all been transformed though we feel like we have only just begun to sample what the Lord has for us. We are all so grateful for the word of God, for the opportunity to stand before the Lord to hear His heart for the poor, for the nations, for circumstances and situations, and to partner with Him in prayer (Ezekiel 44:15). We believe that for us, the International House of Prayer is the best ground to be planted in. IHOP is a perpetual "Solemn Assembly" as in Joel 2: 15-17. We have for many years had a heart to see the younger generations connected into the heart of the global prayer movement the Lord Himself is raising up (Psalm 8:2). This we work toward and this we pray for, from IHOP. For now we are in agreement as a family that this is where we belong and that is precious to us. We have a sense of excitement coupled with the fear of the Lord as we continue on the pathway He has laid out before us...
Here at IHOP we get to do this lifestyle with Marvelous Comrades who stand as watchmen on the wall with us. We stand in the gap together, we run hard after the Lord together, we pray and fast together. We worship the Lord together with great joy and we mourn in repentance together. We share the burden of the Lord in intercession, so no one person carries it alone, and the constant love and encouragement helps us all to walk in greater faithfulness

The Purpose of the Prayer Room Apr 26, 2007
We answer the call of Joel 2:11 and choose the Lord's way to respond to times of trouble. We do this by turning to the Lord now in fasting and repentance before the coming global crisis. We are contending for the mercy of God

Glimpse of Eternity - Ian was night diving off the island of Mauritius when he was stung multiple times by Box Jellyfish, which are among the most venomous creatures in the world. His testimony relates how he clung to life while getting to hospital, was declared clinically dead soon afterwards, and how during this time he had an encounter with God, which radically changed the direction of his life.
