Camden, SC 10/9/09 - Carolina Cup Racing Association is proud to announce that the organization has combined efforts with KershawHealth in a mutually beneficial partnership. For decades, KershawHealth has been the beneficiary of the Carolina First Carolina Cup and the Marion DuPont Scott Colonial Cup races. It’s a partnership that has seen both entities grow in stature and recognition and has been an inspiring example of the power of philanthropy. KershawHealth, in turn, has decided to take advantage of the racing fans attending both races and have joined forces with CCRA to become a partner. KH has acquired the naming rights to the KershawHealth Pavillion, located under the Grandstand. KH will have representaives in the Pavillion to distribute information and answer questions. Wendy Kingsley, Director of Marketing for CCRA, said, “I’m excited about our partnership with KershawHealth. The Grandstand Pavillion should be a wonderful avenue for them to get the word out about the health care services KershawHealth provides the citizens of Kershaw County.”
The Colonial Cup, featuring world-class steeplechase horse races, will be held at historic Springdale Race Course in Camden, South Carolina on Saturday, November 21, 2009. The Carolina Cup Racing Association is excited to have its premier steeplechase events combine with Kershaw Health for both the Carolina Cup in the spring and the Colonial Cup, coming up this fall. In addition to the information booth, the ‘Pavillion’ will have tables and chairs – a good place to stop and watch the race replays, have a cool drink and snack, and learn about health care in Kershaw County.
Camden Hospital, the precursor of today’s healthcare system, was begun by a group of private citizens nearly a century ago. The hospital grew into the multi-faceted healthcare system known today as KershawHealth. Its mission has remained to provide quality healthcare for all the citizens of Kershaw County. When Marion DuPont Scott bequeathed Springdale Race Course to the state in 1985, KershawHealth became the beneficiary of the annual Carolina and Colonial Cup races. Over the years, that partnership has provided funds for equipment, educational programs and screenings that the healthcare system might not otherwise have been able to provide.
“We’re very proud of the partnership we’ve had with the Carolina Cup Racing Association over the years. We’ve had a very positive, supportive relationship with both the board and the staff of the association, and we look forward to continuing this success. The benefit KershawHealth has received from the Carolina and Colonial Cup races has enabled us to continue our mission of providing quality healthcare for everyone in the Kershaw County area and to remain a locally-controlled, non-profit hospital. We hope that both the healthcare system and the races continue to grow and prosper,” notes Donnie Weeks, Kershaw Health President and CEO.
