The Resistors is online NOW!

The Resistors is a new film made for Under The Hood Cafe.
Now I know how I spelled "Resistors". But I did spell it that
way for a reason. "...produces a voltage across its terminals
that is proportional to the electric current..." They provide
balance to the system. See how these Soldiers and civilians
work together to create that balance and support each other
were the Army fails.

FIRE MISSION is online NOW!

Yes, FIRE MISSION is online now!

The events told in this film took place in 2008, and the interviews taken in 2009 near the end of the same deployment. I ask that when you watch, do not think of them as "the people over there" or as "just Iraqis". But imagine them as if it was your neighborhood that was hit, your family members that where killed.

Vimeo has the best, highest resolution, but on some computers it locks up a bit.
So if you have a really good computer, I suggest Vimeo. YouTube is still good and
gives you the option to view it in Standard Definition and High Definition that shouldn't
lock up any ones computer. The rest are easy to view Standard Def channels.

Here it is - the new clip of things to come! Some of you who attended Winter Soldier will recognize this trailer. However, some things have changed…

First, it is now viewable in High-Definition. Second, for those of you who have seen all of my films, you will notice that there is footage that you have not seen in any of my films. Those are clips of future films to come, including a clip at the very end where you will see a Soldier talking that you have not seen in any of my films before. That is a scene from Fire Mission, due out July 20th.

I urge you to please share these films with everyone you know. No one else to my knowledge is doing anything like it. If you really want to show people what’s happening over there, you can start by sharing my films everywhere. Thank you to everyone who has shown their continued support for me and the films I’ve been producing.

Now what is going to happen to the rest of my films? Well, some of the originals were taken down for various reasons. However, the original films that are online are staying put. Deconstructed, A.O., The First Days, etc etc. So that means most of the content on YouTube will stay in place. But what I did is go back over all of my films and re-mastered them in HD and in many cases added in more footage. I also uploaded them on to many more video sites to give the viewers more options where they can watch. My favorite is Vimeo because it has the best clarity out there. I suggest that site over any other for the best quality. I urge all of you to take a look at the new versions of my original deployment films.

The first deployment film, and one of the least watched, was Leaving Home. This one didn’t reach the audience we had hoped for when we made it. But at the time we were not that well known yet. I went back and added much more footage of what it is like to leave again and again for a war you do not believe in and more footage of Soldiers speaking their minds.

The second film was The Staging Game. This film did much better than the first one. However, at the time there was so much more I wanted to put into it. So, out of all the films this one is the most different. There are all the scenes everyone loves, like going into the car dealership in Kuwait, but now there is more footage of what we do there, including home invasion training and more on civilian contractors.

The next film was The First Days. This film follows Soldiers from leaving Kuwait and flying into Baghdad. This also contains new footage not seen in the original. From a Hospital that was taken over by U.S. forces and turned into a black-market paradise to incoming rocket fire, this one has plenty to see.

Day of The Mechanic was probably one of most controversial and misunderstood films that was made. With laughs and some humor in it, many people where thrown off by that. This new version contains more footage of the incoming rocket fire and new battle damage footage. Not available on YouTube.

A.O. – Area of Operations was the first film that skyrocketed in views. With footage of a weapon used by insurgents called a Lob-Bomb, incoming rocket fire, and a Hell-Fire missile strike, this film shows more of life outside the wire. Oh, and the orange color look in the beginning is not video effects, it is what a sand storm looks like. Most people think I did something to the footage to get it to look that way.

The next and biggest hit I’ve ever had was Deconstructed. This film went all over the place on more websites and blogs than any other film. I changed a couple of minor things in this film, but other than that it remains the same.

The last film released was a sequel to The Staging Game titled The Deployment Game: Livin’ FOBulous. All though this one had its ups and downs, what with getting taken down online over and over again, it still managed to reach several thousand views. A great look not only into the fleecing of Soldiers by the Army while deployed, but also the horrible living conditions. Not available on YouTube.

So there they all are! Re-edited and re-mastered in High Definition. Keep your eyes open for a sneak peak at Fire Mission before it comes out on July 20th.

Every single day Soldiers are suckered out of their money by major corporations which tempt the young enlisted “Joe” to spend, spend, spend. The following are two testimonials written by Under the Hood patrons, both active soldiers, and endless supporters. They speak for themselves:

MICHAEL KERN

October 31st 2007 I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Though I knew it would change my life, I never expected it to change for the worse. After completing basic combat training I was shipped out to my new unit in the 4th Infantry Division 1st brigade combat team 66th Armor Regiment. After a year of training and living the army life in Ft. Hood, TX, I received deployment orders to FOB Rustamiayh, just east of Baghdad, IQ. After my arrival in Iraq, my eyes quickly opened, and I began to oppose the “mission”. While I was over there I discovered Casey Porter, a dedicated filmmaker seeking to reveal the truths of Iraq, and we became friends. I did everything I could to assist him in his work, including a video interview. My tour finally ended after months of emotional struggle and I came back to the United States empty, with nothing inside me but hopelessness and regret.

After mere days of being home and “free” I began drinking heavily to forget the destruction and death I witnessed in Iraq. My life began to slowly disintegrate, and I found myself lost. Finally, Casey called and told me to come with him to Under the Hood Café. Though intoxicated at the time, I made my way down and immediately felt at home. Now two months later I feel my life is getting back on track and I have goals. I have completely quit drinking, and have remained sober for almost two months. I no long rely on alcohol to suppress my feelings. I feel that I am part of a support group who I can contact at any time, day or night. Now I can safely say that I feel better about myself, and I feel if it wasn’t for the coffee shop and the people I have met there, I feel I wouldn’t be here today. Under The Hood has saved my life and it needs to stay open for more people like me.

VICTOR AGOSTO

I lived a miserable existence since I turned against the war in Iraq in 2007. I have frequented Under the Hood Café since its grand opening in March of 2009. The café has become my refuge from a closed-minded and dehumanizing military culture. I have seen it bring joy to every soldier and civilian that has become a regular here. The civilian staff is dedicated to helping soldiers deal with personal and legal issues. I have attained a sense of purpose that I have never had in my life. I am now committed to the success of both Under the Hood and the anti-war movement. I have spent countless hours discussing and thinking about ways to end these wars. The support I have received from my family at Under the Hood has helped me take the liberating leap from obedient soldier to war resister. I cannot remember the last time I was this happy. Under the Hood has changed my life forever.
