About

Formed from the remains of seminal death/black metal pioneers Hellhammer in June 1984, Swiss-American hybrid Celtic Frost continue to be a pivotal influence on both the extreme metal and gothic metal genres. Establishing many of the musical elements that have since become synonymous for today's modern metal, the band saw every one of their releases in both the Billboard and UK charts. Co-founders and co-writers Tom Gabriel Fischer (a.k.a. Tom Gabriel Warrior, voice and guitars) and Martin Eric Ain (bass and vocals) saw their uncompromising conceptual framework and intricate instrumental orchestration influence bands such as Pantera, Marilyn Manson, Emperor, Nirvana, Paradise Lost, Cradle Of Filth, Foo Fighters, Darkthrone, Sepultura, Dimmu Borgir, Obituary, Nile, and countless others. From the primal fury of the debut album Morbid Tales (1984), the classic dark opus To Mega Therion (1985) to the milestone experimental album Into The Pandemonium (1987), Celtic Frost have explored sheer brutality as well as their passion for the early Wave scene. Their influence has manifested itself in Goth/New Wave vocals, sampling/EBM fusions, melodic metal, and bombastic orchestral pieces, establishing Fischer and Ain as the "elder statesmen" of innovative metal.

In 2000 the two co-founders began work on a new Celtic Frost album, which has become Monotheist. Self- financing the new album, Ain and Fischer have retained full control of the project up to and including the album's release day. By the end of 2005, Celtic Frost signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Century Media, paving the way for the material?s release. Titled Monotheist, Celtic Frost's new album was produced by the band and co-produced by Peter T䧴gren (Hypocrisy, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal). An extremely dark, inventive, and radically heavy release, the album features monolithic, droning doom anthems that rival the primitive massiveness of Hellhammer as well as the aforementioned gloomy experimental side witnessed on Into The Pandemonium. Doubtlessly Monotheist is Celtic Frost?s most sinister album to date! Its release is followed by relentless worldwide touring throughout 2006/2007. Already confirmed are festival appearances at Europe's most celebrated metal events including Wacken Open Air, Rock Hard Festival, Sweden Rock, among others. An extensive North American tour is currently being scheduled. Whether you?re already a fan of the band or mesmerized by Monotheist, their first album in 13 years, the band?s live performance is one you will never forget.

Balm, Sep 8, 2008:

As many of you already know, on October 19, Balm will open up for "the Boss" at the House of Blues in Chicago! (7:30 PM)
Reaction has been quite enthusiastic to say the least. However the House of Blues is a rather small venue and I want my special friends in the area to be there. So here is the deal: I have reserved 50 free tickets for Zunist! That's right!
All you have to do is to show up with your Zune, show it to the bouncers and say, "I'm a friend of Steve's!" They will usher you to several mid-section tables, all expenses paid (peanuts, chips, sodas, fajitas ... all pre-paid). Be sure to show early on the day of the show, because when the 50 are gone that's it!
Bruce said, "please open up with So Far Away From Home!"

We are gonna' rock the house baby!
