You heard it here first: I lead a double life! By day I'm a husband, a father and a mild-mannered DJ for K-FROG radio (95.1 KFRG, San Bernardino). But . . . by night I have another, hidden identity: I'm an amateur songwriter and musician, feverishly working on demos in my super-secret home studio.
(Well, it's only a secret because pitifully few people ever hear my songs. Which is why I'm here on virb.com. So listen to something. Twice).
I'm a guitarist and writer, both on my own and as half of Gibbons & Ray. But on this site I'll be sharing some of my side projects. My first solo CD, "Let It Burn", was completed in late 2006 and I've recently completedthe follow-up, "Suburban Legend".
You can preview the tracks here and dowload your favorites or the entire CD.
Gram Parsons fans, check out my video for "An Angel Grieves Again" at the bottom of this page. It's a tribute song about him set to a photo montage of his career. You'll also find a concert clip of Linda Washington & me performing Gram's song "She".
Keep twangin'!
Charlie

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov)
Thank you for your friendship! Musical greetings from Munich/Germany!

Happy Birthday!
Pappy, May 28, 2007:
Yeah, I was given the name Pappy in college because I was always in bed by nine, loved old music and didn't really like the modern trends of today's youth. That and I smoked a pipe. Everyone said I was just an old guy that was born too late. It stuck, I'm even known as Pappy in the USAF.

Nice voice and guitar playing and tone. Nice studio sound too. You have a good tone and should be on the radio!!! You make my past come back to haunt me with your music. Man, that's a compliment... Peace.
Pappy, May 27, 2007:

Hi Charlie,
Thanks so much for your great comment on my page and real happy to be ur first friend here !! I am sure I won't be your last :-)
I loved your offerings on your player. You have great instinct for writing your genre and I really liked 'Let it Burn' and ' Roses in the Fire'. You have 2 beautiful children there too I see and also a very talented wife! I'd say thats one powerful family you got there :-)
Perhaps the perfect combination is you writing a 'theme Song' for Holly's next book?
Have a great week Charlie
Peace and Love
Kitana
