I've always been the type of person who enjoys searching out for those golden nuggets of music. One of the best resources has always been other people. Friends, family, strangers you meet at a concert or coffee shop. It seems like every single person out there is passionate about at least one piece of music. That's what makes this site so great. But with everything going digital, I wonder if very many people still make mix tapes or CDs. I can remember growing up making a mix tape for every girl I was ever interested in. And when I started working at a record store, I was constantly making mix CDs for people since I had so much music at my disposal. And yes, I was just like John Cusack in High Fidelity. Lots of thought went into not only what songs went into the the mix, but also the order. On top of that, the cover and track listings had to have a visual connection to the music. It was a package deal. To me it was like making a soundtrack for an hour of someone elses life. So, my question is: do any of you still create mixes for others, or has it all gone the way of the computer?
