Biography

Virginia native Chris Merritt has been a passionate song-writer and performer since age 7. He currently boasts a collection of 800+ original pieces and has been featured in hundreds of live performances. His creative influence has been the driving force behind numerous musical projects, including an internationally distributed album released under the title 'The Legend of Harley Knowles' in 2005 by Chris' band, Paperface. In 2007, Chris began a self-titled project joining forces with Utah-based musicians Dustin Hofheins (bass) and Tim Fellow (drums) and can currently be seen touring in support of his latest release 'Hello, Little Captain.'
Chris Merritt has shared the stage with Reel Big Fish, Ozma, Matt and Kim, Robert Sledge (Ben Folds Five), Ron Blake (SNL Band), Rashawn Ross (Dave Matthews Band), Wycliffe Gordon (Wynton Marsalis), Chris Slade (AC/DC), and John Beasley (Miles Davis).

Hey dude... You need to check out this podcast. Go into itunes and seach for "Radio Lab" and download the one titled, "Music." It's dated: 9/24/07.
It's incredible. They go into detail analyzing what exactly music is. They talk theory and talk about tonal languages and what the difference between talking and music is. They strip is down to it's absolute core elements and it's insane. You really really really need to check this out. It's mind boggling.
