The inventor of the instrument responsible for taking rock n' roll from it's 50's/hillbilly Elvis Presley roots (a genre I find endlessly boring), and making it into the sexy, dangerous, blood pumping music style (and way of life) it became, has died at age 94.

Much of who I am as a human being is a direct result of this man's genius. He not only made the first solid body electric guitar, he also refined it into the form that it now is, the most effective in conveying rock n' roll. He also consistently made the BEST electric guitars for decades to come. (he also invented multitrack recording, making him somewhat responsible for all the cookie-cutter pop music we have to deal with... no way does Pink get to make records if she had to go live off the floor, but the good outweighs the bad... although Les himself did not outweigh Pink) :-)

Rest in peace Les Paul... I was gonna go to an acoustic jam tonite, now maybe I'll stay in and crank it up in your honour... neighbours be damned. \m/
