Summer Movie Preview 1 week ago

OK, So I'm about two weeks late trying to get this going, but here it goes. I've compiled a list of movies that I feel will be worth checking out. I would have devised some sort of 'buzz-worthy' meter, but that just takes up too much time for my blog. I'm going to do my best to put these in chronological order...

MAY 2
Iron Man: A little obvious, I know, considering all the hype has already passed and knowing it did quite well the first week. I saw it this week, and it was quite enjoyable. Well-paced, the characters didn't seem to get on my nerves, but wasn't the same caliber as Batman Begins...... Definately worth a watch though. oh, and how come no one told me 'The Dude' was in it?

Son of Rambow: British Indie Comedy involving a kid wanting to make his own Rambo movie. Sounds promising. I'm almost certain it won't play in OKC, but I'll be sure to check this one out when it's out on dubbed video dub.

MAY 9
The Fall: This seems to promising, with Pushing Daisies/Chickasha native, Lee Pace, in the front seat. The visual look great, but I wonder if the story will hold up. Either way, this looks good.

Tracey Framents: I don't know too much about this film, but I guess the movie is shown in fragments like the trailer. and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. Just seems like an 'ok' story, but it's getting publicity due to the success of Ellen Page and Juno.

MAY 16
Prince Caspian: If you've ever watched the old British versions, I think you'll be equally excited to see a well produced versions of the Chronicles of Narnia are being made. I enjoyed the first and this one seems to be on the same page....just darker and more action.

MAY 22
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull: Another obvious choice. It's about 20 years since they made the last one, so it will be interesting to see how much CG will be used or how 50 year old Ford will hold up. Either way, I'm excited to see it.

JUNE 27
Wall-E: It's a Pixar movie, I don't need to say anymore.

JULY 11
Hellboy II The Golden Army: Not the biggest Hellboy fan, or even really excited about the first one. But after watching a couple films from Guillermo del Toro (especially Pan's Labyrinth), I've grown to enjoy the intense creatures and film making, which on the sidenote, I believe it's up to make the Hobbit.

JULY 18
The Dark Knight: YES YES YES YES YES YES YES> I'm ready.

JULY 25
American Teen: I know I've posted a link for this before. Just seemed like an interesting documentary, and it's getting quite the buzz. Also, it will be showing at OKC's deadcenter film fest, June 12, with the director. I need to hit that up.

Baghead: From the people that made The Puffy Chair. Super indie film. I'll check it out when it comes out on video.

AUGUST 8
Pineapple Express: I know you're probably tired as I am from seeing Judd Apatow's name placed on everything, but I can't help myself to anything that involves some or part of the cast of Freaks and Geeks. Plus David Gordon Green (All the Real Girls, George Washington) is directing.....really? Looks stupidly hilarious.

AUGUST 15
Star Wars-The Clone Wars: A full CGI movie.....George Lucas, you lost me. But I'll probably still get suckered into going. just because it's Star Wars.

Towelhead: This is coming from Alan Ball, writer of American Beauty and Six Feet Under. That sounds promising enough for me.

------

I could probably compile a list of equal size of all the movies NOT to watch, but that's a waste of my time, but this list of 8 movies that will suck, pretty much sums it up.
