I'm not always in total control of myself. This seems to be like common sense, but really, it's a more complicated battle between your consciousness and your physical instinct. You really …

At Ken's funeral today... I was hit by a weird thought.
I looked around and I saw a good hundred, maybe a hundred and fifty people there to pay their respects. A man had died suddenly, and they all felt it weigh down on their hearts. Relatives, friends, and family …

Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare

I ave to say chuck, that i am seriously impressed with you. Ihave grown up in church. and you have been a christian for like 2 years now I think. But I don't really remember. and you give better advce about like your walk with God, and keeping your faith than a lot of people I know. And you're not afraid to say it. I guess some of it just comes with age. but it makes me feel like I haven't been 'all the christian i could be'. I just watched 2 camp videos.and the one about convictions. and I guess now a conviction for me would be just being a better christian. not letting it be hidden. It's kinda sad that it took me this long to realize that. but ya know. that's me for you. ohh, and I am gonna go post another blog on myspace. and it should be a good one.

I would definately agree! I do, however, find it hard to say that the wisdom and experience that Shane shares in his book is hardly a trick to fall for. I'm a firm believer in the fact that we as christians need those "highs" to help dictate how we handle the lows. I mean, how would someone know they were in a valley if the mountains around them weren't any higher than where they were at. it's like the switchfoot song 'the shadow proves the sunshine'. sometimes we have to hit a low to even remember the highs exist. and i agree with you 100% on how difficult the application is on a long term basis. but it's not impossible. and i think that it's important to remember that Shane is human. I don't look at his book as some authoritative piece of literature but as a learning tool. The Bible, as always, is the foundation and this is more than anything a tool to better understand those principles that have been layed out throughout the old and new testement. well thats what i got.
thanks for the comment!
