After nearly being expelled from her arts high school for poor attendance and playing live at some of her home town's most contemptible bars -- while still underage -- Clara Engel has properly developed an edge and found a voice that to this day does not conform to any rules or standards. Both fierce and delicate, her music is reminiscent of an era in history when theatre, art, and sound were an integral part of a bigger, more vital whole; an era that the 21st century is craving more than ever.
