Dead dogs are not uncommon on and around the res., there are scarcely enough resources for people, and the social issues plaguing the lives of everyday native Indians doesn't leave a lot of room for the issues facing animals. Because the reservation is open, animals are allowed to roam free. On any given day, driving through the res., you'll see two to three dead dogs lying on the side of the road. That is not even the worst of it.
