A.E. Brown is a visual artist based in the Indianapolis area, currently in hot pursuit of her Bachelor's of Fine Art from the Herron School of Art and Design. A former student of Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri (but two hours south of Kansas City!), she earned her Associate's of Art with Studio Art emphasis in May 2007.
Brown's independent work is interested in discussing the status of storytelling in our modern culture, especially in terms of the oral tradition formerly shared by many of our ancestors, although explorations of the narrative and its representation in a visual format are also of great interest to her. In terms of medium, Brown isn't picky; she enjoys exploring both 2-D and 3-D solutions to her work, although it bears to be said that painting is her current intended concentration.
When not focusing on more artistic pursuits, Brown is also interested in applying her creative energies into the written word, which somehow manages to feature itself within her pieces whether she likes it or not.

Geez, the holidays are great at lying a girl flat, let me tell you. For a good two, three months, I've been writing in my to-do list to remember to scan in my 2-D work; now, on the last days of January, I have one piece from my 2-D Design class to show from it. (And …

Finally, some work from this semester! My Creative Processes course is a problem-solving studio wherein you're given a theme (this semester's is "Senses") and you make work based on your concept of this sense. The third project, "Smell," will be on shortly, but to tide …

Oh my God, my first update! Perhaps I'll actually stick with this entire "portfolio" nonsense. Of course, this is entirely touch-and-go; watch, I'll say this, and then forget this website for all eternity, &c. &c., until I graduate and realize I have to offer some …

Sleeping, writing, artistic endeavors, sleeping, baking, cooking, sleeping, private dance parties, public tea parties, sleeping, the vainest attempts at photography, keeping tabs on the fashion world, sleeping, knitting, sewing/altering garments, sleeping, cuddling with dogs, enjoying technology, sleeping.
Stuffing the iPod to the brim, oral tradition in today's society, picking out weird outfits to wear, synthesizing personalities based on Nalgene stickers, the Obamarama, India ink, sketching in Moleskines, dystopic science fiction, napping, sleeping for longer than 6 hours, toasty quilts, fiber arts, watercolors, punk rock straight out of the late 1970s, dead legends, sweaters, public radio podcasts.
