About

Looking out at the skyline of Kingston, NY from a midtown rooftop, it's hard to imagine that 230 years ago the entire city was set ablaze and burnt to the ground by invading British forces. Today, a new fire is burning in the heart of the city, and a new invasion is taking place. The basements that survived the scorching are all becoming recording studios and the musicians are taking over. Who needs torches when you've got guitars and microphones?

The members of Counterfeit Disaster are all Kingston natives. They helped start the fire several years ago, igniting a music scene alongside local bands like Coheed and Cambria and 3. When those bands exploded in popularity, Counterfeit Disaster knew it was time to carve their niche and realize their ambitious vision: epic and progressive hard rock anchored by the vocal magnetism of a truly gifted pop singer.

The band is now finishing their self-produced debut album and taking their studio project to the stage, with a little help from their friends. Coheed's Travis Stever has a cameo on the bluesy rocker "Devil's Handshake", and 3 has been inviting the band to open their sold-out shows in the Tri-state area.

Now that Kingston is on the map, Counterfeit Disaster is looking far out on the horizon, ready to take their place amongst the rising stars.

MEMBER BIOS:

In 2005, after a decade as a stage manager for the WWF (and playing in local metal bands) bassist Dave Daw joined the in-demand, female-fronted rock act Ivory Rose and built the recording complex that Counterfeit Disaster calls headquarters, Darkworld Studios.

In yet another home studio across town, vocalist Kenny Camacho's solo career took off after he won the 2003 New York Idol Award (nationally televised on FOX) as well as the 2003 Pop Top Achievement Award (performed at Madison Square Garden) and appeared on commercial radio, independently selling thousands of records.

Keyboardist/sampler Dave Parker and guitarist Kurt Brown played together in Divest, assembling a dream production team that included Dr. Know (Bad Brains). Parker also toured with Coheed and Cambria and continues to collaborate with ex-Coheed drummer Josh Eppard in Weerd Science on the Equal Vision label.

Green, Mar 18, 2008:

The Return is a great song. Keep up the good tunes!

Gagosian Liga, Dec 24, 2007:

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov)
