I Knew Ye Too Much

Sports are dead to me. Goodbye, New York Yankees. Goodbye, Green Bay Packers. Goodbye any other teams I happen across on Sundays. I have become bored with following a group of over-paid, over-whiny "heroes" on a daily basis. Actually, it's not so much boredom as I've come to realize my hypocrisy.

Why now? Why after fifteen years of wallowing in the land of Fandom have I decided to close up shop and move to the shores of High Horse Cove? Well, there's about 243 million reasons why.

Sorry, it's actually 243.5 million.

The Yankees have just coughed up $243.5 million for two pitchers. Let that sink in real good. I feel like I'm in some kind of Zone of Twilight where this is still fine. A magical place where people complain about CEOs and unions, but still shell out money to watch the Christians being devoured by over-stuffed lions. I honestly don't see how I can complain about the things wrong with the economy and still support these industries.

So, screw the sports world. Time to invest my time in something more constructive. Something that doesn't glamorize greed, both financially and power-wise. A practice built on the backs of the upstanding, and folks that have a strong moral compass.

Does the government of Illinois sell beer hats?
