About
Glenn Crytzer was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Oct. 13, 1980. His works have been performed by the Florida State University Saxophone Quartet, the Trio Bel Canto, and the Greater Cleveland Flute Society as well as by students and faculty from universities and conservatories in both the US and abroad.
Nocturne Fantasy, Crytzer’s first orchestral work, received a Student Composer Award in 2005 from the BMI Foundation as well as an honorable mention in the 2006 ‘First Music’ competition. In Stride, a violoncello solo composed for Seattle Symphony Principal Cellist David Joshua Roman, was named a finalist in the 2006 SCI Student Commissioning Project Competition.
Mr. Crytzer was most recently commissioned by the ‘Duo Petrarca’ for a new song entitled Current, based on a poem by Adam Boehmer. Crytzer was also recently commissioned by the ‘Musician's Concert Band’ for a new work for wind ensemble entitled Burlesque: 1919 which will be premiered in the summer of 2007. His Exporations, for two saxophones and piano was commissioned by the Trio Bel Canto in 2004 and was premiered the following year in Louisville, KY.
Crytzer holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition from the Florida State University and a Master's Degree in Music Composition from the Cleveland Institute of Music. His principal teachers have included Ladislav Kubik, Margaret Brouwer, and Samuel Adler (at the Freie Universität Berlin).
Mr. Crytzer is a member of Broadcast Music Inc., the Society of Composers Inc., the National Association of Composers, Chamber Music America, The American Music Center, and the Northeast Ohio Early Jas Society. He currently resides in Seattle, WA.
