Beth Preston: just a girl trying to spread the love.

But it's not all rainbows, moonbeams and fairytales for this Southern-Californian musician. Try lightning bolts, skateboards and broken guitar strings, and you?re getting a little closer to the real Beth Preston. Oh, and she also loves puppies.

Frustration, heartache, uncertainty, acceptance and strength of mind can all be found in Preston's music what else could one expect from a political activist living in a George-Bush-led America?

Not just another angry folk-rocker, this girls got a light that shines and fire that burns.

She's exposing the roots and finding the flow both lyrically and musically.

Preston's amazing vocals and soulful performances have landed her support slots with Xavier Rudd, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and Blue King Brown, to name just a few.

With her musical journey beginning at age zero, Preston is not stranger to performing. Her first gig being in the parking lot of one of my Mom's gigs,with a tip jar,and a kid-sized accordion.

Aside from her more recognized musical influences (PJ Harvey, Ani Difranco, Cat Power, Elliot Smith, Jeff Buckley, Manu Chao, Hendrix, etc) her parents have been a huge inspiration.

Her mom is the most amazing blues singer and poet I've ever witnessed,and my father, a world-class guitarist and writer

Her upbringing, huge heart and burning desire to communicate her beliefs and feelings through music, create a performer who's not afraid to explore her musical boundaries, and who definitely is not shy to the stage!

Anyone who's seen a Beth Preston gig will know, she owns it.

This Australian tour she is also sharing that stage with another Californian based musician,drums Jesse Charnow.

Sharing his talent between numerous musicians, including Ravi Shankar and daughter Anoushka, Charnow's presence will no doubt add fuel to Preston's fire.

This on-stage burner is completed with beats from Brisbane-based percussionist Jess Latham.

This is not Preston's first time to Australia, a place that continually amazes and inspires her, and luckily for her fans, she's more than happy to spend the next few months here.

This tour also sees the launch of her first full-length album "Inside Fire".

Kicking it off at the Folk, Rhythm & Life Festival in Victoria, with plenty of shows to follow, there will no doubt be an opportunity for everyone to come on down and share the lurrrve Beth-Preston style.
