About

Dasto is the solo project of Jehf Jones (former member of Uphill Battle, Eat Shit And Die). His ambient compositions are the result of improvisational manipulations of guitar loops and layers to create a slow and spacious musical experience. Jehf describes his compositions as "structured like an auricular headache---repetitive, drawn out tonal arrangements with sustained throbbing concinnity. To be fully enjoyed it should be dismissed as background noise and ignored."

Dear Fan(s)

The bad news is Dasto is on temporary hiatus while I take music lessons.

The good news is, instead of taking music lessons I have started a new music project entitled STUPID CHILDREN.

It should suck as much, if not more, than Dasto did/will.

Here is the official …

I STOLE HIS FREAKING MUSIC, Jan 12, 2009:

The man who makes his living through the undying hatred of music has blessed the scum that frequents this site with a benefaction few are worthy of. Take note of the bailout this altruist, this good Samaritan has offered to the public. Take note that your ears are hardly fit to receive this gift. Gaze up into the sky and thank the deity that has ignored you your entire life that you were able to catch a glimpse of the type of glory that will never be yours to enjoy.

Tired Fire dropped an atom bomb one t he musical playing field. Nothing but the mighty album remains to be seen or heard. Tired Fire stands in the devastation it caused, Godlike, and alone.

yeah, this is the stuff. it's nice to see someone just put Ambient instead of Ambient slash post-rock slash indie slash trance slash latvian nostril chant or whatever.

gorgeous work (for serious!)

Been a long time brother. When are you going to drop some funky fresh beats on the local populace again? YOUR POPULARITY IS WANING.

I STOLE HIS FREAKING MUSIC, Oct 22, 2007:

Whats this gi mono guy doing trying to leech some fame off you by posting here? His music sounds like ratatat slowed down to about 4 bpm.

Oh, and about the new songs.

I think 'Mythology of Fathers' is Dasto's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding two albums. Listen to the brilliant bowking by Jehf. You can practically hear every nuance of the only instrument. Take the lyrics to 'I'm Going to Hell'. In this song, Jehf Jones addresses the problems of abusive internet usage. 'Exit Stencilist' is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation and dignity. And Jehf, remember to always tip the stylist 15%.
