Sony Develops 35mm full size CMOS Image Sensor with 24.81 Effective Megapixel resolution
Sony just surpassed the resolution of film with their new full frame digital sensor.

This will likely end up in the new flagship Sony Alpha camera due out later this year, as well as the new Nikon flagship, Pentax and others.
