I just wrapped up a shoot with Knoxville, Tennessee's indie hopefuls, the Tenderhooks.
They are currently unsigned, but not for long.
Check out the recent write up in their hometown paper, Metro Pulse here, and their music on their MySpace.

"The Worst Bathroom In The World"

Last night, Pete Yorn played a rare free show at the SPIN + Amstel Light Party.
I haven't seen Pete since late last year at the Beacon Theatre, so I was curious to hear a taste of what's to come on his 4th album, due out later this year. Knowing Pete for about eight …

I recently wrapped up a shoot with Jukebox The Ghost this week.
I first saw these guys with Ra Ra Riot late last year, and was quite impressed -- especially considering I am not so keen on piano rock.
Test shot with Jesse
Here's a sneak peak of what came of it:
I'll post …

Last night, I was asked to photograph the Jedi Knights Scooter Club's Kickstart 2008 party at Double Down Saloon. Growing up in the UK, I've always been a fan of scooters and mod culture. I even did some work with British Mod clothing giant, Ben Sherman, several years …

Wow - I just received my first hate mail.
There are always a few people who thrive on attention, especially when they see someone with a camera.
Honestly, I'm a bit of an introvert, known to be shy with people I don't know, and sometimes I just don't want to be bothered.
I …

My good friend and fellow photographer, Laura Kirsch, and new friend, Jess Piranian, had a joint birthday bash last night in Brooklyn. Every party I've been to lately was at a bar, so going a house party was a much welcomed change.
I got a little trigger happy with the …

Funny that I keep hearing the press declaring Hillary Clinton's supporters to be primarily older women, yet I keep running into younger supporters around the city.
Today, at Union Square, I ran into student volunteers for Hillary Clinton, collecting signatures on a …

You know, I've seen The Raveonettes probably 2 or 3 dozen times, but their show last night at Bowery Ballroom was probably one of the best I've seen yet.
All the older material had been reworked for this new phase of the touring band: Sune + Sharin + Leigha on drums. …

Walking down Broadway this afternoon, I noticed a long line of SUVs, vans and cars with Tibetan flags. As they got closer, I noticed the gruesome imagery of what appeared to be brutal murders of Tibetan citizens at the hands of the Chinese government. China is infamous …

This afternoon, I caught a couple snapshots from the St. Patrick's Day parade on 5th Avenue. Sometimes, the formations from marching soldiers can look really cool when you get it at the right angle.

I just saw FUNNY GAMES this weekend. I don't want to say too much about it, but as difficult to watch as it is, I do recommend you see it.

...To cover "Ray Of Light" at the Waldorf Astoria for a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.
Funny? Yes, but what's more laughable is that Iggy Pop has yet to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Kudos to Madonna for having Iggy perform in a sort of …

In case you haven't heard, the Hot Snakes' singer, Rick Froberg, started a new band, Obits. Though I missed their first show at The Cake Shop, luckily I scored tickets for their sold-out show at Union Hall last night.
Put these guys on your "bands to watch" lists.
Also, …

Last night, I saw Liam Finn for the second time.
I first saw Liam last year when he toured with Pete Yorn and Crowded House. Pete said he was solid and told me to get there early for the opener, and I was glad I did.
What surprised me last night, however, was the energy …

Across The Universe is finally out on DVD and Blu Ray High Def tomorrow. The Julie Taymor film was my favorite of 2008 for the groundbreaking visuals and entertainment factor, and I hear even Sir Paul McCartney approved.

Sony just surpassed the resolution of film with their new full frame digital sensor.
Check out the full press release here.
This will likely end up in the new flagship Sony Alpha camera due out later this year, as well as the new Nikon flagship, Pentax and others.

"Time To Pretend", the new video from new New York band, MGMT, will undoubtedly influence at least a few music videos and photo shoots. The cheap/chic, dirty/sexy, hyper-psychedelic production values are really quite beautiful.
See for yourselves:
I love it.

A friend just called to tell me that Heath Ledger was dead, and I thought it was a sick joke, but it was on the front page of CNN.com and now in the New York Times.
As many of you knew, I used to live just blocks from his Boerum Hill house while he and Michelle were …
