I was in a giant corn maze with my family in Michigan when I snapped this photo of the sunset. I was drawn to the warm colors and the way the light is hitting the tops of the corn stalks. Apparently this corn was being harvested for fuel the next week.

Awhile back my wife taught me a trick that has been really nice for creating color schemes. In this article I'll cover the topic of "bridge colors" and how they are useful to you as a designer.

We were driving through Shaker Town at sunset and I was trying to take some photos of silhouetted deer... Even after stalking them through the field they avoided me, as deer are prone to do. I snapped this photo after seeing the distance between the giant electric …

Over the weekend we took a quick trip to Michigan where autumn was in overdrive mode. During our time there we visited an orchard, but to our dismay the apples were no longer being picked. Nevertheless, I still managed to take this photo which I think is still a …

During our trip to Mississippi we went to a nearby Cypress swamp, and I thought it was interesting enough to write about. (There are pictures too!)

While we were at the Cypress Swamp the other day I saw this fallen tree. The bark had been removed which showed the paths the insects had made underneath. This photo was taken during golden light near Jackson Mississippi.

The other night my wife and I were at Shaker Town in Kentucky taking some photos for her class when I saw this scene. I had taken a few other shots of this particular tree, but this one stood out the most.

Over the weekend I went on a photo shoot by the railroad tracks. I'm a big fan of lines, texture and color, so when I had a minute of down time I snapped this shot. I haven't done any color correction to the photo, just a little cropping.

Recently a lot of people have been asking me where to start when creating a website, and so I sat down and wrote the advice that I typically give to people who aren't web designers or developers.

I took this photo awhile back but it was displaced by the darkroom work that I have been doing lately. This photo was the result of another walk through the field with my wife. I like this shot mostly because of the environment, it's almost as if he is surveying …
I have a long-standing person distaste in design, besides Papyrus and Zapfino... Photoshop brushes. In this article I talk a little bit about that.
SeptemberSep 29 Monday 08

With my wife in Photography 2 this semester I've been spending more time around 35mm film and the darkroom. Of course that is great news for me because darkroom photography is one of my favorite things to do. So just the other day we were out in the field again …

I'm a little late on this week's photo, but I think you'll understand why in a minute. The point of the photo of the week is to force me to take new photos each week, in this case I'm making the exception because I had the opportunity to develop my own photos in the …

Awhile back we submitted designs for the up-coming redesign of AsburySeminary.edu, this is what I brought to the proverbial table.

My wife and I were on a walk the other day when I spotted this praying mantis. I don't think it really appreciated having its photo taken, but since it was a praying mantis it could only show disdain by looking at me crossly. Apparently I'm turning into an insect …

What does it really mean when we say "content is king"?
Finding the balance between text and imagery.

I ran into a problem with a corrupted MySQL table and thought I would write down how I fixed it, in case others were having the same problems.

I had taken some photos of really large sunflowers lately that I was going to post as the photo of the week. By large I mean 8 feet tall, not the 4 feet tall ones …

Since I moved to Kentucky three years ago I have been trying to get some photos of a Tobacco field once it has turned golden yellow. We went out this weekend to see if there was a nearby field where I could finally get some shots, however, it was being harvested. …
