Tim Tebow wallpaper images - a friendly reminder

Hello, everyone. I appreciate all of you that are stopping by to view and download the various Tim Tebow wallpapers that I have created over the last year (Heisman, Tebow Returns, and Gladiator). However, I must reiterate that these images were created using copyrighted photographs from professional photographers, and thus these images cannot be reprinted and/or sold for profit. Some of the wallpapers have continued to show up on eBay, and I appreciate all of the sellers that have responded to my requests to remove the items.

I would like to continue to make the previous creations available for non-commercial use and create new ones as we get to spend one more year watching Tebow in orange and blue, however I will be forced to remove them if reprints continue to be sold for profit (especially on eBay). Thank you for your assistance.

Peace,

First thoughts of 2009

So I made it all the way past the ball drop and up to about 2:30am before I finally hit the sack, but here I sit- bright and early- at 9am on January 1, 2009. Here are a few of my first thoughts going into 2009.

Reflect on 2008: If 2008 taught me anything, its that I have absolutely no idea what's coming. I recently read an interesting blog post about someone's predictions about 2008 from 5 years ago. In reality, the list was simply some of the things that had occurred over the last 5 years, but when read as if they were predictions from the past about the present, many of them seemed kind of crazy. For example, who could ever have predicted that a first-term senator with little previous experience would defeat not only John McCain but also the Clintons in the race to the White House- oh yeah, and he happens to be African American. In the world of technology, the number of blogs, Facebook profiles, and Twitter accounts have seemingly gone from zero to a billion in 5 years. I never would have guessed that 75% of my web used would be based around 2 or 3 sites. This type of reflection, even on 2008 alone, has taught me that the most important way to be prepared for the future is to be flexible. It is also encouraging me to dream big. Things that do not exist today may dominate peoples' consciousness within 5 years, and who is to say that I cannot be a part of that.

Reflect on New Years: The New Years shows were decent. It looked cold, but then again, its almost always cold. I had some friends in high school that went to Time's Square and had a blast, but they said it was a good thing that none of them were

Hey everyone! First off, I apologize for the scarcity of blog posts in the last couple of months. I must also admit that the few posts that were made are pretty much fluff. I love sharing news, links, cool stuff, videos, and wallpapers I have made with everyone, but it sometimes feels like a cop out if nothing is really original. Anyway...

I have a question for you all. I am getting a new iPod touch because my brother and a couple other friends have them and love them. My older one is starting to act up a bit, so with the help of birthday money and such, I have a new one coming in this weekend. My question to you, my friends and visitors, is what iPhone/iPod Touch applications (free or paid) should I look into? Thanks in advance for your help!

Its Official: Ohio State = Irrelevant

I will grant that USC is the number 1 team in the nation, but... come on! I think its now absolutely official that Ohio State is irrelevant. Sure, they have played in the last 2 national championship games, but that's more a factor of their conference's place in the BCS. They can continue to "get up" for "big games" like Michigan and the rest of their conference schedule, but when you get embarrassed in the biggest games by SEC schools and you get demolished like they did tonight by USC, I refuse to believe that you deserve the attention/ranking you continue to get.

I am still (believe it or not) undecided...

This may come as a shock to some people that know me well, but I am still undecided about who to vote for this November. I guess that's acceptable since we have yet to have any face to face debates. In addition, my role in ministry is not to influence for any candidates, which I am learning I need to be better at. There are certainly things about both candidates that I love, and there are things about both that I don't like. What I have been most vocal about to my friends is my perception of an unfair playing field in the media (specifically CNN's coverage of the RNC), but then again, talk radio is certainly biased the other direction. As McCain said in response to his crowd's reaction to some Code Pink protesters, I am tired of everyone yelling at each other.

I admire Obama's stand against discussing candidate's families, yet I wish some of his supporters (especially in the media) would respect and adopt this position. I admire John McCain's declaration that you may not always agree with him but you'll know where he stands; however, I wish his campaign spokespeople would keep their story straight (they're "derailing" the "Straight Talk Express"). As a previous entry noted, I absolutely loved the Saddleback discussions. Now, my next step is to see the two debate each other. In memory of my grandmother who collected campaign buttons, I have some buttons, stickers, and signs from both candidates, but I am not ready to display any (and I probably will not even when I have made up my mind).

In addition, I am finding myself struggling with the "idea" of each candidate. When Obama entered the primary race, I wrote an op-ed piece for the Orlando Sentinel

American Idol - David Archuleta smokes David Cook

This is tough for me to write because at the end of the day, I would much rather own a David Cook album. However, it totally looks like tonight David Archuleta smoked David Cook. They both were strong, although the editors did a great job of putting their bad notes in the episode recap at the end...

David Cook was given a fastball right down the middle of the plate with "I still haven't found what I'm looking for." However, instead of a grand slam, he hit a solid double. Archuleta did a solid job as well, but again it wasn't amazing. The second songs were fan written, and I agree with the judges in that they were not the most amazing songs ever, but I can't complain because I submitted a song to the contest and didn't even make the top 20. Anyway, the tale of the night was in the final song.

David Cook did well with his last song, showing what his album may sound like. He showed emotional range and really proved that his album might be interesting and not just a collection of 12 songs that sound the same. At the same time, however, it did not sound like a winning song. I agree with Cook that choosing a new song to try and blow the top off of the place was a better idea than just repeating your best from the season, but in the end his new song did not top Archuleta's "Imagine." I am not sure what was behind Archuleta's song choice, whether he really thought it through or just saw that it was his top single on iTunes. Either way, the song was the right choice for May 2008 in America.

So, in the end, I think Archuleta should walk away with the prize, but I think they both leave with careers. Who knows how long an American Idol alum's career will last after 7 seasons of winners and season favorites, but I think both of these guys bring a uniqueness that could give them staying power. David Cook, as Simon said, truly seems like one of the most genuine guys ever to be on the show. In case you didn't know, Cook has been a traveling independent musician for years and only came out to the auditions to support his brother. He never even intended on auditioning, yet he is a finalist! Simon noted on Leno last night that Archuleta's youth may give the impression that he hasn't had to pay his dues yet, and that may be true, but I guarantee he has worked really hard to get where he is.

It sounds cheesy, but I really don't care who wins the prize tomorrow night. Many past alums have proved you don't have to have the title to have the career- so there is still hope for Brooke and Jason and the others- but tonight's show really proved why these two particular guys are still in it. I don't know about you, but watching the look back at the end during the closing song only cemented in my head how memorable these guys are and how forgettable some of the other contestants were. You kind of got the feeling early on that these two guys were going to stand tall in the end, and they have lived up to it. So, Archuleta, I think you deserve the win based on tonight, and Cook, don't worry, you will have my $9.99 when your first album comes out on iTunes.

Peace,

I am extremely happy that David Cook won. I wrote two nights ago that I thought Archuleta smoked Cook in the finals but that I would rather have a David Cook record. I guess most of American agreed because by voting him the winner, we already have his studio release of the winning song available on iTunes. It sounds a lot better than the studio recordings they have been releasing all year.

I think last night showed that even though Archuleta has some great pipes, Cook is ready to be a star. He just looked impressive the whole night, and I feel that he did better with his performances. I am always amazed at the winner's ability to sing the final song, and some have really struggled through it. However, David Cook seemed not only incredibly ready and able to sing the song but he made sure that his other cast members, Archuleta in particular, got to share the moment with him. He also already has a very amusing commercial for Guitar Hero. In the end, I am very glad Cook won, and I hope that they will let him make the kind of record he wants to because I think it could be awesome.

Peace,

Mute Math - Funny Trailer Packing Video

Mute Math is one of my favorite bands, and currently they are in the studio working on their second major label release. Goodwin Films is on the scene filming a behind the scenes documentary of the process, and is releasing bits a pieces as video blogs. One of the first ones involved packing the band's trailer and stars one of their tech guys. I think its pretty funny and wanted to share it with you. The band's drummer, Darren King, also makes an appearance. If you have never seen Mute Math, you should. In fact, one media outlet labeled them the band you have to see live before you die. I heartily agree. They do have a DVD, but they're still better live. For now though, check out this video of roadie Jordan explaining the tailer packing process.
