The company that will one day rule the world is sharing the wealth! Google will be providing free Wi-Fi in 47 airports across the country now through January 15th. They worked out a deal that will also let Virgin America give free Wi-Fi to all passengers on Virgin flights this holiday season as well. I’m sure this will help during those snowy winter months & long over-delayed flights. Just be sure you point your Google Wi-Fi enabled browsers back over to this site for all the great holiday season tech madness.

Amazon.com unleashed their free Kindle for PC app today allowing the masses to read any of the 360,000 eBooks they have in their catalog. Personally I’m not a fan of their eReader but, I’ll hand it to them, they have some really nice features in this thing. For instance the “automaticallysynchronize your last page read and annotations between devices” feature would be very convenient. If I wasn’t already a nook guy ( I know, and they haven’t even released yet!) It would be big selling point! The Mac version they say is simply “coming soon” which if your a mac owner by now your used to that sort of vagueness.

Yeah, you read that right F-L-U-T-E, flute. A girl who has only been named as “MsFrizzyHair” apparently got sick of practicing the old fashioned way. So she put in her brother’s copy of RockBand2 and plugged in the microphone. What she found out is that the microphone will in fact pick up on the notes and harmonies from her flute.
In the video below you can see her rock said flute while playing Avenged Sevenfold’s “Afterlife” on expert difficulty. It’s a pretty rad thing to see but it makes me wonder for such a simple thing why wasn’t this found out long ago? Did I mention her cuteness?!

Big blue is suing big red and no I’m not speaking of the Democrats & Republicans, I’m speaking of
AT&T and Verizon. (AT&T is suing Verizon over their “There’s a Map For That” ads. I really shouldn’t have to tell you these things!) What does Verizon think about that you may say? Nothing. Well, at least thats the impression that I got when they released three more iPhone-bashing ads for the holidays.
Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the “iDon’t” ads I absolutely love these. My favorite no doubt would be when they put the almighty iPhone on the “Island of Misfit Toys”. These have me feeling all sorts of holiday-like on the insides. Check out the ads below.

Another MASSIVE problem has reared it’s head for T-mobile this evening. Customers (including yours truly) have been experiencing “service disruptions” to their voice and data. Personally neither my voice nor text is functioning. When attempting to text I get a “Network out of order” message. This is exactly what t-mo didn’t need less that two weeks after launching their new pricing structure and not even six weeks after the side kick debacle.
A source who works for T-mobile that I know personally has informed me that they are getting calls from all over the country. Some people have intermittent service, while some have nothing at all. T-Mobile did release a statement just a short while ago stating “T-Mobile customers may be experiencing service disruptions impacting voice and data. Our rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible. We will provide updates as more information is available” your usual vagueness in such a situation. I’ll keep you updated.
Update: Everyone in my t-mobile customer in my family has now regained both voice & data service. As always the comments are open, let us know if your still having problems.

Sprint has been touting the “Bringing you the first 4G network” tag line in it’s television ads for awhile now. Well it looks as if they can check that one off the list. Sprint announced that it’s WiMax service went live today in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Atlanta, Portland, Las Vegas and a few other cities are to join the ranks very soon. Sprint was quick to give instruction on what one would need to achieve the 4G speeds. “To use Sprint 4G service, all you will need is a 4G plan and the Sprint 3G/4G USB Modem U300. Just plug in the device and start downloading mammoth attachments, uploading huge files and video-conferencing with no lag.”
Sources have been reporting that they are getting around 10Mbs on the new service which in some cases is faster than most peoples home connections. I guess the big question left unanswered is how much are we going to pay for said 4G plans? (that’s assuming anyone will switch to their mail-in-rebate phoneapalooza, move to one of the aforementioned cities, and buy a new WiMax compatible handset. It’s just that simple, right?) There is little video package Sprint put together below.

The Palm Pixi is set to launch on November 15th exclusively at sprint for $100 on contract we know that much. There have been rumblings though that the new Palm device will be shipping with a new version of WebOS . All the information we have at this point is that the new update will bring it up to 1.3. As to a feature set or change log Palm hasn’t released anything yet.
It does get pretty interesting though because with the new information above that would mean unless things chance (I hope/think they will) Palm will have 3 different OS’s running on 2 different carriers. (Bell & Sprint) Palm did promise “parity” however, between the CDMA & GSM devices by the pixi’s launch. This will need to be done to avoid an IT Support nightmare.

Apparently big red isn’t hurting for any amount of cash in this rough economy. Verizon will be launching a “First Of It’s Kind” interactive advertising experience in New York City’s famed Time Square. They are calling it the “DROID Does Time Square” campaign and it will actually let people control two of the massive displays in Time Square.
What takes it a bit further into one of those geeky once in a life time experiences is that you will be able to control the NASDAQ & Reuters sign using voice commands. Now I would assume (which is never safe to do) that the controls will be used either through on site demo’s or a actual toll free number that people could call.
No information at what launch date they have planned for the campaign but I assume we will see it soon as the first handset in Verizon’s DROID line launches November 6th.

Well apparently they have at least been shopping the idea to some network execs. The idea is that Apple would provide an all encompassing package that would give you a “catch-all” subscription for $30 per network. So far no one has acted on the proposal but as we know from the past that isn’t something that would stop the folks are One Infinite Loop.
Clearly the networks have quite a few kinks to work out and for once I actually think that the price isn’t the main problem. What I’m sure they are worrying about most is how this would affect their rating amp; advertising systems already in place. There has been a little bit of chatter though one source has a ABC exec saying “I think they might get it right this time” which with ABC owning Disney which has Apple as a partner they could be a shoe-in for first to sign on the dotted line.
