Formed in Japan in 1997, Dir en grey has had a steady rise to prominence within their home countrys music scene. Having toured in various countries and released four successful albums, Dir en grey has now set their sights on America. Their fifth album, Withering to death. will hit store shelves on March 7th, 2006 and is being released by Free-Will America and WARCON Enterprises LLC.. The U.S. release of the album will also contain a bonus DVD.

Dir en grey is made up of vocalist Kyo, guitarists Kaoru and Die, bassist Toshiya and drummer Shinya, with the lineup remaining consistent since its inception. The band became extremely popular almost immediately upon forming, and caught the attention of the CEO of East West Japan. Dir en greys debut was marked by the simultaneous release of three singles, all of which reached the Top Ten. Dir en greys music and lyrics have always expressed sentiments of sorrow and darkness, which has helped to maintain an intense and personal connection to their fans. "In the process of producing this Withering To Death, the word Wither came to symbolize our work entirely, combined with the feeling of hurt and suffering that represents the bands original concept. This album is definitely one with a depth so boundless that it only goes deeper and deeper. Musically, we made these songs while searching for aggression and freedom."
