Dirigible Ego is the music project of Boston-based singer/songwriter Pete Chvany, also of Boston darkwave band Lilac Ambush.
May 2008. Dirigible Ego is now a classic four-piece rock outfit, with the addition of Ryan Donnelly (ex The Internal Struggle) on lead guitar and Doug Allen on drums. We've been in the rehearsal studio working on five or six originals and a couple of covers, and the results are very promising. The plan is to rehearse over the summer; Boston's club scene cools off with the departure of much of the city's student population. We'll look to be out in the clubs in the fall when the students return and things get going again.
Meanwhile I've been writing new material at a rather fast rate, so additional "home studio" releases are quite probable, in addition to the full-band work that's coming up. Stay tuned!
April, 2008. Guess I won't be calling this a "solo" project. Eric Karnowski will be joining me on bass and maybe some other instruments for the next batch of songs I work on. We're rehearsing in my home studio regularly as I teach him the new material. Welcome, Eric!
March, 2008. I've just released Spring Hill Light And Power, a collection of 15 home demos in the shape of an album. All tracks are here on Virb; the full-length file in the default running order will be up on my main site shortly.
February, 2008 marks my first "album-length" release, a collection of instrumentals titled Themes For A Defunct Leather Bar. I'll be putting out a collection of pop songs a little later this spring. Watch this space! Or hit my main site, http://www.dirigibleego.com
If you've heard Dare!, Primitive Man, Vienna, or even Fear of Music, you have some idea of my formative influences. If you've played around with GarageBand, you will recognize some of the rhythm tracks I'm using in my demos.
In short, I'm a child of the 1980s who started making my own music in 2003, after many years of spending my life just wishing. (Hat tip to all those who get *that* reference.) But I'm not too cool to admit that I also grew up on Linda Ronstadt's 1970s output, or ABBA, and my taste these days ranges from power pop to hard rock to whatever the hell speaks to me.
Mad props to Rachel Rhodes for turning me on to this site.

Hey Pete, we definitely took this as a compliment. We dig Paul, especially Ram. Cheers!
