I blacked out Saturday,
And burned that blood away,
And scrawled that image out:
The boat flies up and out.
And I was only eight.
I woke up underweight,
My eyes vermillion,
My skin all starved for sun.
I blacked out Saturday,
And burned that blood away.
My covers kept me in the bed,
And if i could have, I'd have said-
But the words weren't coming out,
Or the words were coming out wrong,
And the first thing I could shout was
"Up, up, up, up, out!
The violence! The tumble down-down!
The lights out, the lights out!
The broken-once-I-shook-so-far...
The killing off! The killing off!
The violence! The tumble down-down!
The lights out, the lights out!
Fall! Fall!"
So I loosed the covers up,
And I shook the door right off.
Yeah, I loosed the covers up,
And I shook the door right off.
But the words weren't coming out,
or the words were coming out wrong,
and the first thing I could shout was
"Up, up, up, up, out!
The violence! The tumble down-down!
The lights out, the lights out!
The broken-once-I-shook-so-far...
The killing off! The killing off!
The violence! The tumble down-down!
The lights out, the lights out!
Fall! Fall! Fall! It's so-! Fall! It's so-!"
