I'm a peace-loving writer and art lover in all it's forms - books, visual and performance art, theatre, comedy, music, film... I contribute interviews and reviews, from hip hop to "alternative" country. My work continues to appear in local and national magazines. I have a couple of local art and entertainment blogs that could use a few volunteers, diy revolution and Kill The Critic, and I'm working on an internet radio/podcast project called Rock The Pilot.

Besides writing about music and being a Facebook and "CrackSpace" addict, my other passions include writing poetry and fiction. You can read some of both at the incredible Haggard & Halloo, and my creative feminist zine The Lipstick Pages.

Whoa! I almost forgot to plug my official web site diydanna.com and two important personal blogs: Danna Williams: Surreal Estate Agent, where you can read published and unpublished creative writing and reviews, and A Surreal Estate Agent's Life, which offers support and advice to aspiring and established freelance writers.

If all of this is confusing, don't worry, you can follow my meandering ways @ friendfeed.com/diydanna.

Drop The Pilot?

I love the song and the title, made famous by singer/songwriter Joan Armatrading (and I think Mandy Moore does a respectable cover of the song). So much so, that if I ever start my own independent label, this is what I'll call it - Drop The Pilot. So consider it official, like it's trademarked.

It's apparently not a good name for the music blog I'm starting. My boyfriend thinks it's too,,, anarchic... DIY Revolution (my current blog) is too heavy, encompassing all the arts and crafts of our tiny, insignificant universe. So I'm determined to start fresh when i move. So I'm doing some groundwork for Rock The Pilot.

The plan is to do as much internet networking I can for the next 9 months, then give birth to the baby in Portland, OR. I've already set up profiles on Facebook and MySpace.. The next logical step is Virb. Duh...

The blog will be mostly about the radio show - a free form format affair, similar to a day of WFMU, but rolled into a two-hour weekly program focused on do-it-yourself Hip Hop, Rock, and Pop - with interviews of course. If I get the proper set-up early on, I can broadcast live!
My daily blog will include local music events, videos, and reviews of live shows - with personal photos.

It will be like a blog about what I did for summer vacation.

Now I have more to look forward to in 2009, besides digital conversion.
