The History of D. Jones

The Hottest New Artist In The South!!! From the depths of QC (a.k.a. Charlotte, NC), emerges a beast. D. Jones brings what the game's been missing, with his unrivaled delivery and unmatched swagger, a new dawn has arrived in the industry. "The General", the heavily anticipated industry debut from D. Jones will feature collabs with some of the hottest producers in the game and will offer audiences and listeners the chance to witness the changing of the guard in the hip-hop industry.

Since the age of ten Darnell "D." Jones has been in the spotlight and seemed destined for greatness, the influences of Big L, 2pac, Biggie, and the infamous Scarface have helped mold, inspire and influence D. Jones in life as well as in the studio. Charlotte, NC born and raised, his star-studded charisma became apparent appearing in talent shows, building his fan base and awing crowds at an early age.

Record executives have been hot on his trail for the last five years but he held out until the perfect deal arose. A double threat in that, D. Jones is educated in the streets and in the classroom. The knowledge and experience he gains from both makes him unstoppable against all competition. Throughout his high school career D. Jones found ways to incorporate his love for music into his education. He performed at major events such as health conferences along with headlining freestyle battles at the University of North Carolina, now a student at East Carolina University; D. Jones plans to graduate in 2009.

In June of 2006, D. Jones began recording his underground album "Title Bout" with Swagger Entertainment. Title Bout became an instant success with demands nationwide. Renowned for his unique take charge demeanor, the nickname "The General", was given to D. Jones by Swagger Entertainment's CEO Michael Foster. Selling thousands of copies independently resulted in the smash hit EP, "Title Bout".

After gaining mass acclaim, huge street buzz and "Title Bout" ending up in some of the top hands in the industry, everyone knew D. Jones's big break was not far away. After recognizing the talent and versatility of this top hip-hop prospect, producers Michael Ellis and Young CEO (a.k.a. Kazey Ellis) of M. K. Ellis Productions /Istmo Inc. signed the 19 year-old in November 2006.
