The seventh and most dance floor release from West London's Soapsud Crew, features the return of Ketsa's alter ego, and former Hydrophonic and Primate stalwart Shaolin. There's lots of tasty treats to get you bubbling, with four great grooves from Dlay, a classic Sketchy Beats number and a rave infected Sputnik O'Harra jam. Plus two more techno beats from Shaolin. It's time to Sud the hell up and dance.
Shaolin started on Primate Endangered Species. The first release he was on was a compilation called ..'Funky Monkeys..' vol 1, featuring Ade Fenton, Jel Ford, Extec and Shaolin. This enabled him to start his own label with Extec (Steve Murray), Hydrophonic recordings. ..'The mean green..' ep was his and the label..'s first release, featuring remixes from Extec and UK Gold. This EP was very well received, gaining 5 star ratings in various music publications and getting support from many DJS like Laurent Garnier and Josh Wink. He was also on Funky Monkeys vol2 with Woody Mcbride and also toured with the Primate DJs, playing many a party at home and abroad. After 4 releases on his own imprint, and obtaining remixes from artists like Ben Long, Prime and Hydrophonics called it a day. Now Shaolin is back with Soapsud City, fresh from three releases as his alias Ketsa, eager to pick up where he left.
Dlay is a Soapsud stalwart. A Prime worker as well, Dlays love of music spawned from an early age. Discovering electronic music and DJing many moons ago, Dlay..'s sound has evolved into a unique experience. Having featured on Sudscapes, Dlay has gone on to release an album, ..'Head Space..' and an ep ..'Dance with your eyes closed..' on Soapsud City to good acclaim. His sound is melodic but still very funked up, with elements of detroit and jacking house evident. He is a PEG party DJ, playing often around the UK and out the country.
Sketchy Beats is a union between Dlay and Justin Berman. Both PEG party Djs, they met during the Prime days and have been formulating their sound ever since. Their music is always rolling, funky and a little strange! Expect more sketchiness from these two in the future
Sputnik O..'Harra, aka Orphean Prophecy is the final quarter of Soapsud City. His rave infested anthem, Footwork, will surely have the masses reminiscing about the good old days. He has featured on ..'Sudscapes..' soapsud001, and has an album planned for later this year. Brother of famous music engineer Greg Hunter (The Orb, System 7, Crowded House), music clearly runs in the family.
