I once thought I could generate an electric field with my mind. Seriously. When I was in High-school, I learned that with the power of my thoughts, I could induce a strange sensation, like a cloud of electricity hovering around my head and fizzling up and down my skin. I would watch as the hairs on my arm stood on-end. It was quite odd. I could do it by imagining a ball of static-electricity growing inside my mind. I figured the sensation had to be accompanied by some sort of physical manifestation (Ie. An Electric field) but after much experimentation with volt-meters and galvometers in my school lab, I learned that the only physical manifestation was goose-bumps. Yeah, turns out I'd learned how to give myself goose-bumps on cue. But I've researched this, and to my knowledge I am the only person on the planet who has this ability.
I also have a something akin to Spider-man's "spidey-sense". I can always tell when someone is about to rob me. It's happened more times than I care to admit and each time, I saw it coming from a mile away. Before they even pull their gun or knife or even approach me, I know it's going to happen. It's nothing uncanny, really. After a careful examination of the phenomenon, I realized that it was just a natural ability to read body-language. Unfortunately, since I can't dodge bullets or anything, once I see it coming, I can't actually do anything about it.
My little brother and sister have called these abilities super powers. But since my "super powers" are essentially useless, if I were a superhero, I guess I'd have to be called UselessMan. Next stop, League of Ordinary Gentlemen.
