I looked down and saw a heart of stone,
Lying there alone and abandoned in the sand...
And realized it was my own...
That's why I stood there on that day
And despaired so bitterly under the dull gray sky
Until a voice called out over the crashing waves
And it said:
"Rethink your life!
Heaven is breaking in to earth now,
Like day breaks into the night
The kingdom of God is at hand
See, a rule of love is coming to smash all your kingdoms of hate.
And a new spirit is on the wind
And if only you had eyes to see...
The new world is growing right before your eyes"
I turned and saw that the voice was that of Jesus.
And he said:
"I am the true king
Follow me
My people don't die for me
But I die for my people
So trust me and abide in me
Place your loyalty in my rule
Heaven is coming to earth now.
I'll lead you along the difficult yet beautiful path
To a new way of living
Life to the full
And though coming close to you brings me so much sorrow
I gladly open my heart
And share in your pain
Because the joy of being with you here
Makes it always worth it
I love you"
And so I picked up my heart of stone from the sand, and put it back in my chest.
Then I saw the colors bleeding back into the sky again, and into your eyes
I had never really seen you before
Now I see you and try to love you
And you could be anyone
You could be anyone I meet in my everyday existence
Yeah, I'm learning how to live now...
I'm learning how to hope
If you meet me, pray for me
And maybe we can talk
Cause we're in this thing together
We're in this thing together
Right?
Finding the poor May 2
And finding them to be more human than we were, we shrunk back and were aftraid. We were afraid then that the things we had lived for, sweated for, sacrificed to for all these years had been nothing more than broken idols in the street. We had looked to stones to rescu...

Seeing the art all around me: golden late afternoon landscapes, trees silhouetted against the sunset, clouds making abstract paintings in the sky, the glow of streetlights on sad city streets, the waves of the sea in so many shades of blue stretching away towards lands you might never even go to, and the expressions on animals' faces. And what you see when you look in people's eyes.
My favorite album of Switchfoot? The Beautiful Let Down, New Way to Be Human, Learning to Breathe, maybe Legend of Chin. I got The Beautiful Let Down separately before I got the collection of the other three that I mentioned. That one album with the song "Stars" I have the guitar book for it but not the album. I only know the intro to "Stars". Yeah, they're a cool band. My bro met a friend that Chad Butler grew up with who is also the guy who taught Chad how to play the drums. Pretty cool.

Yeah! I've seen that video! It's on the myspace page for our Atlanta campaign (www.myspace.com/innocenceatlanta). While I suppose it would be a bit more difficult to help directly with girls in recovery, men could use help too. Most of these men hold themselves completely free of responsibility. They do whatever they want and rarely suffer the consequences. I would suggest working with kids (particularly boys) in areas where it seems prevalent or with boys that have been abused. Most cases of exploitation are rooted in a long history of abuse, so...yeah. Hope that helps!
