I had just come back from the Bahamas and had ported at Cape Canaveral in Florida. I received a text from my best friend Desiree....What? Am I reading this right?I was in shock to know that I was. A dear friend of mine, Taylor LaKamp, had passed away. I didn't know how to cope with it. It was so sudden; so unexpected. He was so harmless, so why did harm get in the way? A question that will never be answered.I couldn't help but to well up with tears. That's when I thought about when I had talked with him. I remembered when he had come up to me, and kept cracking corny jokes. They sure were corny! But they also put the widest smile on my face that was accompanied by laughter.I asked myself over and over again, 'Why him? Why a mind, soul, body, heart, and life that was just so pure?' He was beautiful. Heaven needed a beautiful person to light up the sky.Taylor liked happy people, just like how he liked making people happy. Every time I think of that boy, I think of a simple and sweet smile.
