Brian, Who are you?? Who??.. Are you??- Breakfast Club

I'm an adventurous 35 year old man who likes to skydive, scubadive, rockclimb, surf, etc. Anything dangerous, I'm there. I work out 6 days a week and run another 30 miles a week. I placed in the boston marathon. My favorite things are my harley, red wine and a nice romantic evening by the fire, and my Rottweiller Zeus. So you must love dogs.

Oops, I thought this was eHarmony!! My bad!! In which case, all of the above is utter bullshit!! Sorry!!

The real Brian? Well I guess you could take a look around my page to learn a little about who I am, what makes me tick, what ticks me off!!
Basically, I'm a 35 y.o. dude with a beautiful and wonderful g/f who is only 22 y.o. I got it like that, I guess!! Seriously though, I have no clue what I'm doing, I'm just enjoying the ride!!
We have a beautiful 7 month daughter together, named Eira-lynn Rose Flatt.
I also have a 6 y.o. son from a previous marriage, Zachary. He is a really cool dude, but not always in a loose mood!!
I have done a lot of things in my life, as far as work is concerned. I've changed bed pans in a nursing home, bagged groceries, stocked shelves, sold clothing at a retail store, worked in fast food, spent 6 years in the Navy as a nuclear machinist mate, worked in manufacturing, worked at an oil/gas pipeline company, drove a tractor trailer for a year and a half, and now I'm working at UNC Chapel Hill hospital as an operating room attendant. Wooh!!! Let me catch my breath!!! Ok.
So what is an operating room attendant? Basically, I clean up the OR rooms after the surgeries are complete, including mopping up and wiping up blood. It's really not as bad as it may sound. It's actually pretty cool. I get to see quite a bit of crazy shit, let me tell you. I also pick up blood from the blood bank, transport patients to and from surgery. Basically, I'm a combination janitor/orderly. Glorified, of course!! ha ha.
I am going back to school in the fall to learn how to be a surgical technologist. Scalpel? Scalpel! All on the hospitals dime.
Other than that, in my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and loved ones. Go to the park, go out to eat, maybe catch a movie when I'm not too poor. I like to watch movies at the house, play playstation 2 games, read a good book, and basically just hang around the house being lazy. But having a 22 y.o. g/f I can't be lazy too often, I have to take her out once in awhile too and show her a good time. Once again, when I'm not too poor.
Anyone that may know me from Newsvine, I'm not gonna say that is an alter ego, but it's not really me, the real McCoy. The real Brian. That Phaedrus guy is a real asshole.
So... hit me up sometime!!

The Neural Buddhists -- David Brooks and Tom Wolfe 3 days ago

The Neural Buddhists I read this piece in the NY Times op/ed section, by David Brooks. Very interesting stuff and it got me thinking quite a bit. In the piece, he references a 1996 essay by the novelist Tom Wolfe, entitled, Sorry, Bu...

P.O.D. Tell me why!! Cuz how do we know?! 1 week ago

I heard this song on Jay Leno tonite and was completely blown away. If this song is not talking about George Bush and the wars we are fighting, then nothing is. It's even more poignant when you realize that P.O.D. is...
