About

My name is Randy Brush, and I am a former professional musician who relocated to Grinnell, Iowa. These recordings detail my experiences while playing Drums In Grinnell

The first two compilations are recordings of both the Grinnell College Percussion Ensemble, and the Grinnell College Symphonic Band of 2006-2009, of which I was privileged to be a member.

These first two albums are of terrific ensembles comprised of both student musicians, and interested community members that play a variety of instruments.. These wonderful performances are free and open to the public, and as a bonus, these recordings are available to members of the community from the college's listening library for no fee.

I have posted a list of my favorite performances from over the years, a few featuring myself as the primary soloist, and one piece "Apologies to Donna (Lee) that I arranged for three drumsets. I hope you enjoy listening to all of these as much as I enjoyed performing with the ensembles over the years

The next album involves "TRIANGLE", a group formed by Mark Root-Wiley, Mallory Inman and myself as a means to perform percussion music independently around the Grinnell College campus, as well as write our own compositions.

The next album is of jazz recordings made over the last few years with a variety of groups, but primarily made up of Bob's Underground Cafe' "Jazz Night" regulars.

The last compilation involves my current passion, combining acoustic and electronic percussion with a Digitech Jam Man loop pedal, to experiment with the possibilities of solo live performance, and expanded percussion-based groups with synthesizer and other electronics.

I'm also having some ideas about using the loops as a teaching tool.

Yet to be added here:

The Klezbians: Extreme Klezmer Music
Buckthorn: Bluegrass

So enjoy! This is my celebration of the friendships and relationships that have I have formed during the context of these recordings.
