Here is a rundown of my working projects (all under this page, for convenience):
duv
After struggling with trying to make minimal techno for years under this name, strictly for my own consumption until recently, I have realized that I am not a minimalist. If anything, I have found I am more happy with minimalist means to accomplish a maximimalist end; filling the frequency spectrum from piercing highs to subsonic lows. In my latest recordings I am embracing this methodology.

suspension
Under this name, I am exploring longer form drones. Experimenting with very few elements to create stasis and lull crossed with subtle motion and surprise. A principle concept I have been exploring is what I term audio mirage: essentially a piece of sound that is so subtly shifting with its elements so delicately balanced that the listener cannot tell if it is the piece of music that has changed or simply their focus on the sound.

s&#275d
A forum for me to explore a form of electronically manipulated instrumental improvisation. The means and methods of this infrequent project change, but often inform the my other work more than anything else.

Sick Pitch is nearing completion, but along the way I have fully completed the new Featherless EP. I will be adding a preview of this work on this page soon and I plan to post it on the IndMill site. More to come soon.

Well, I had stated that I wanted to get the Sick Pitch EP out by the new year. Now 6 months into that year it remains incomplete. This is in part due to my fussing, interruptions from life (including moving to new hood in BKLYN) and gross computer failure.

I have no intention of letting it remain unfinished. It's so close. As long as I don't lose too much data it's in the mixing phase; writing is complete. I have new projects coming up quick but I insist on getting the table clear as it were. It will only be another month or so! I am sure this time.

Smear, the first (now) commercially available release from the long-form ambient project Suspension is available for purchase at iTunes, eMusic and other major digital music stores.

The first two versions are studies in a slow-motion pitch drone, with subtle events cutting through each track. The 'quiet' version places those discreet musical events in a silent space. Each piece has it's own unique sonic character.

Goodbye Lance.

I've been lucky. I've had a couple of bands that have always been with me. Somehow presciently telling me what I needed to hear at just the right time. Expanding when I needed to explore, contracting when I needed to connect to my roots. One of those bands is J Church. They started in 1992 and I was collecting them within a year. For the past 14 years I have been following their music and finding just what I needed in every release as it came.

I am sad to report I am going to have to face the rest of my life without J Church. A strange concept. After so long I thought they would always be there for me. Lance Hahn, the leader and sole founding member died this last Sunday from complications with kidney disease.

Thank you to Lance for the years of service, and good luck.

For the last year, in fits and starts I've been working on a new EP (working) titled Sick Pitch. I am attacking it with vigor and determination if for no other reason than I have the desire to move on to the next idea without abandoning this one on the road of lost projects. It's coming together despite computer problems. I will be uploading at as tracks are finished as well as some archive material.
