I recently received some friend requests on virb that make me think this social network might be getting closer to hitting critical mass. Because, lo and behold, friend-whoring has made it onto Virb.

A certain "dave" asked to be friended. I didn't think I actually knew said Dave, so I went to check out his profile. Dave has 1326 friends…something tells me that, maybe, not all of those people know Dave.

I've seen requests like this before, mostly from orgs, and I tend to deny them. Isn't the point of friending people, and of social networking, to distinguish the goodies from the baddies? MySpace is a mess. I'm hoping it won't happen here. But young Dave has me worried.
