Interactive / hyperactive duo between an Australian and a French musician, EDGAR started in Nantes (west France) in 2006. Brutal punk rock free jazz, abstract improv, thematic long tones, humour, difficult to describe (as usual), anyway, it is not your average free-jazz blow-out, nor is it pretencious wimpy improv, nor is it balkan gypsie music !

Entre la Lorraine et l'Australie les deux musiciens d'Edgar se sont rencontrés à Nantes. Les duos sax/batteries sont nombreux dans l'histoire du Free Jazz. Pour Edgar c'est un plaisir de se référer, d'emprunter à cette histoire tout en y invitant d'autres influences, rythmes et mélopées. La musique d'Edgar est pleine de ruptures et d'énergie féroce. Elle est interactive et hyperactive.

Sébastien Coste (soprano sax & balloons) grew up playing in the harmony orchestra of Saint André d'Apchon until he got himself lost in improvised music. Active in the collective EMIL 13 in Nancy, where he worked with Thierry MADIOT, Alfred SPIRLI, Steve LACY & La compagnie LUBAT ... He enjoys playing improvised music in the street, the circus (L'autre orchestre, Francis ALBIERO) and with dansers (P. KUYPERS, K.SEBBAR, L. LUMINET, F. BEAUBOIS, A. GRUEL ...). Currently he works in duo with Will Guthrie and with the legendary rock/impro/theatre of the absurd trio from Lorrain; ROSETTE.

Australian drummer, percussionist Will Guthrie enjoys working in many different settings of music including live performance, improvisation, studio composition as well as being involved in numerous multi-arts projects including installation work, film, theatre and puppetry. Regular collaborators past and present include Matthew Earle, Adam Sussmann, Ferran Fages, Jean-Philippe Gross, Helmut Schaefer, Julien Ottavi, Manu Leduc, Keith Rowe, Jérôme Noetinger, Sébastien Coste, Jean-Luc Guionnet, Greg Kingston, Erell Latimier, Jim Denley, Ren Walters, Mike Cooper ... In Australia and France he is active in organising concerts and he also runs the Australian based experimental improvised CD label ANTBOY MUSIC.

Sébastien Coste (sax soprano, baudruches) a grandit dans l'harmonie municipale de Saint André d'Apchon - 42 - et puis s'est perdu dans les terrains de l'improvisation. Acteur du collectif EMIL 13 à Nancy, il a aimé rencontrer Thierry MADIOT, Alfred SPIRLI, Steve LACY, La compagnie LUBAT. Il adore travailler l'improvisation avec la rue, le cirque (L'autre orchestre, Francis ALBIERO), et la danse (P. KUYPERS, K.SEBBAR, L. LUMINET, F. BEAUBOIS, A. GRUEL...). Aujourd'hui, il joue en duo avec le batteur australien Will GUTHRIE et sculpte du rock avec le maintenant légendaire trio lorrain ROSETTE.

Batteur et percussioniste australien, Will Guthrie travaille dans différents styles et domaines musicaux : musique improvisée, expérimentale, jazz, rock, composition, électro-acoustique etc. Il a produit plusieurs disques en solo ainsi qu' avec d'autres artsites et a joué dans divers festivals ou scènes en Europe, Asie et Océanie. Il a collabore ou collabore aujourd'hui fréquement avec Matthew Earle, Adam Sussmann, Ferran Fages, Jean-Philippe Gross, Helmut Schaefer, Julien Ottavi, Manu Leduc, Keith Rowe, Jérôme Noetinger, Sébastien Coste, Jean-Luc Guionnet, Greg Kingston, Erell Latimier, Jim Denley, Ren Walters, Mike Cooper ...
