(Written around 1976 in the throes of teenage angst. It is a melodic, epic ballad in the progressive ballad style of the day)

As I walk down the dark paths to nowhere
Never ceasing to wonder at the follies of time
A small patch of light grows out of a hole in my mind
And when I look into the hole all my work, all I have
Every bit of accomplishment that I've ever done
Grows out of itself, and now I can see who I am.

The light flickers on and I see where I am on this sphere
For around me, four hundred just like me, but different again
Poor fools, all your light is cut off by the wave of a hand
Now I sit and I dream, for I'm lost, I don't know where I am
Confused and bewildered, am I just as foolish
As when I remembered you standing there
You were standing there. (oh.)

I don't want to see myself as I am
As I am forever, as I will be

Of you four hundred fools of passion
