Empire Dogs

Empire Dogs consists of five childhood friends from Stockholm, Sweden. The band was
set together in the beginning of 2000 and were soon to be known for their wild gigs on
the night club scene of Stockholm.

In 2004 the debut album "Love attacks!!!" was released. Soon to be acclaimed by both
Swedish and international press. The album was followed by a hailed tour and the band was soon recognized as Sweden's best live act. “Love Attacks!!!” has since then been released in the USA, and gigs in both the UK and India has resulted in devoted fans around the globe.

In 2007 empire Dogs began working on a second album. The band chose to work with
producers Fabian “Phat Fabe” Thorsson (Teddybears, I’m from Barcelona, Robyn) and
Jocke Åhlund (Caesars, Håkan Hellström).

”We wanted to pair our two foundations, soul- and rock music, with a lot of gene
manipulated dance beats” says Sunkan Choi, Empire Dogs’ singer and frontman.

“The result is a strange creation which will ADHD your ear drums out both in the clubs and on stages.

The new album has been named “Happy go lucky”. The first single will be "Come on you
preachers (Arirang)" where Empire Dogs will show their new face with dance beats and
intense soul melodies. The song features guest vocalist Ola Salo from the Ark. Ola was so
thrilled when he heared the song that he demanded to be on it.

The first single is to be released in the beginning of 2009. “Happy Go Lucky” is due to be
out late February, early March 2009. Already in December, Empire Dogs will hit the roads again. This time the original set will be accompanied by backup singers and a keyboard player. The band is determined to yet again claim the title "best live act in Sweden"... Maybe even in the world. So don't miss to check them out when they visit your local venue.

The EMPIRE DOGS are:

Sunkan Choi – vocals
Erik Pihl – drums
Stefan Svensson – bass
Niklas Landberg –guitar
Gustav Vidlund –guitar

KPFT review by Leila Navon - August 20, 2007

Empire Dogs: Love Attacks!!! (2007/The First Time) FCC status: all tracks clean.
Although the band is Stockholm based, they still know how to rock in English. Their first album, Love Attacks!!!, is not your average CD about heartbreak. The base of the music is unquestionably surf rock, despite the fact that they have never toured in America. The pop-influenced guitar and drums convinced me to put this on my driving mix, but if you use public transportation, definitely carry a music player with you.

Review July 2007, thecheappop.com

Empire Dogs: Love Attack (The First Time Records, 2007)
What's with the Swedish? They continue to produce music that's innovative, unique and smart. Maybe it's the fact that they have a society open to creativity or maybe its something in their water...the secret has produced the amazing Empire Dogs. Their new release, Love Attack, is almost impossible to categorize. On the first track, "Whole Lotta Love," the band channels the best of The Beatles with a touch of The Strokes. Pop oriented with layers of sound, the album is filled with strong vocals over extreme guitar riffs and driving drum beats. Sunkan Choi's vocals remind one of the young Paul McCartney while the guitar licks of Niklas Landberg and Gustav Vidlund, the drums of Erik Pihl and the bass of Stefan Svensson fill out the band's rock and roll edge.

According to press, Empire Dogs put on stellar live performances earning them the title of "Sweden's best live band." Combining the feel of the 60s with the essence of the present, Empire Dogs has created a great record. I'll be the first in line to see them perform in the U.S.
