And we will never forget....

Ok, so I know it has been a long while since I posted anything, but I wanted to at least write this out before the week was over. I want to address something that has been on probably everyones mind this week. September 11th, 2001 was a horrible day for us all. We watched as thousands of lives were abruptly ended in tragedy and horror, and it will always be with us. For some of us it hit harder than others, having loved ones or friends in New York, or at least for me, watching your brothers in arms (I'm a firefighter, just for all those who might read and not know) charge in and the seeing the tower collapse around them. Three hundred and forty three of the worlds bravest died that day, and that is just the FDNY. Scores of police officers died there too, but the real unsung heroes that died that day weren't FDNY or NYPD. Dont get me wrong, those men were heroes and deserve every accolade that title accords, but alot of people dont know the full story. One man who worked for a federal shipping company made it out with his coworkers. He was safe, but he went back in to try and help others get out, wearing a business suit, not a uniform. Another man was performing CPR in the hallway on someone who had been hit by debris, when the towers came down. The point is, there are hundreds of stories like those that have been reported by survivors, and probably hundreds more that all those who saw never got out to tell. So when that day comes around next year, and you find yourselves thinking about those brave men of the FDNY and the NYPD, pray for them, but also pray for the men and women who didn't have to go back in, and pray for all of us, that if called to make that choice, we wouldn't hesitate.
