goofy gay geeky goth(ish) gamer girl -- pierced, tattooed, and dyed -- life's too short to be normal

I'd like to believe that I'm an interesting person, with interesting thoughts, ideas, and experiences that others would find worth their time to hear about and debate with me. But I'm not sure that's really the case. So if you are interested in striking up a conversation with me, don't assume you'll find anything besides a normal person. If that doesn't deter you, then great!
As to who I am... I believe in being myself. I have long accepted that I will never be part of the "mainstream", and no longer even try. I do that which I like, and if other people like it, that's great. If not, I don't care.
I am a gamer. It's more than just a long-term hobby. It started at about age 6, when my parents bought an Atari VCS. It got me ready to use the first family computer, a TI-99/4A, which I soon knew better than either of my parents, and I began to learn programming. I ended up doing Computer Science in college, and now, after some other positions, I'm even working in gaming - I'm part of the Xbox team. Yes, it's great - I love my job. No, that doesn't mean I play games at work all day.
I found a recent love of music, thanks to Last.fm. I've had a minor interest for a while, but that site guided me to new genres of music I wasn't aware existed - music that I really enjoy, and now there's so many different artists that I really like. The funny part? I recently found a mix CD someone had sent me like 4 years ago. I remember how when I heard that CD after getting it, I didn't like a single thing. Well, after digging it back up, I looked over what was on it. I think over 75% of the songs on it are part of my library now and listened to regularly. Sometimes we just have to wait for the right time, it appears.

Regarding Friend Requests:
I'm not one of those people that's up for being friend-collected. In fact, I take who I add as a friend seriously - only people who I have had a significant amount of conversation with of some sort, people that I already know at least somewhat. If we don't know each other, then you're not going to get added - and if it's a random request from someone I've never had with interaction with before, it's definitely going to be rejected. If you want me as a friend, then here's the deal - start interacting with me in a regular way. Figure out something that we have in common or that interests you, and start the conversation - a comment, a message, something. And we'll see what happens...
Can we kill MySpace now? Jun 16
I hate MySpace.
I will clarify that. I specifically hate MySpace. I don't hate the concept of social networking (obviously, since Last.fm is a form of it), and I don't even hate the specific functionality that's on MySpace. I like what they're trying to do, and a good,...
101 goals in 1001 days Mar 30
A couple months ago, my sister told us about this interesting thing she was doing. It was called 101 Things to do in 1001 Days. The idea is simple. Create a list of 101 things to do - goals - and then give yourself 1001 days to do them all. We thought the idea was great, and have not only decided to do it ourselves, but get a bunch of friends to join us.
I've completed my list... and you can check it out in the full entry!
We played Rock Band at a friend's party a few weekends ago, and once I logged in, I had to explain to the young 'uns what PMS was when your online status popped up. Heh.

The trip from here (near Kansas City) up to Chicago is boring also, the landscape is so flat :( At least the summer storms are nice out here :)

I'd like to move back to Washington, it was nice up there. I lived on the other side of the state over by Spokane though. :) It's not that much fun here in Missouri :(

Laurent C. a.k.a Sh0GUN says:
I think a "Last.fm integration" in Virb is a very good idea. For example, to include music we listen here in our Last.fm's charts list. It's technologically possible.
